Abstract

A sawmill having a carriage 1 for moving a saw between two points, the saw having a cutting blade 11 which can move between a substantially vertical cutting position and a substantially horizontal cutting position, the sawmill having a board removal system comprising a deflector flap 23 mounted adjacent the cutting blade 11 such that when a board has been cut from a log 13 by the sawmill that board is moved from the log by the deflector flap 23 as another board is being cut from the log 13 adjacent the first mentioned board.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A sawmill having a carriage for moving a saw between two points, the saw having a cutting blade which can move between a substantially vertical cutting position and a substantially horizontal cutting position, the sawmill having a board removal system comprising a deflector mounted adjacent the cutting blade such that when a board has been cut from a log by the sawmill that board is moved from the log by the deflector as another board is being cut from the log adjacent the first mentioned board.

       2 . A sawmill according to claim 1 , wherein the deflector is mounted adjacent the front or rear of the blade.

       3 . A sawmill according to claim 1 , wherein the deflector is in the form of a flap.

       4 . A sawmill according to claim 1 , wherein the deflector is mounted such that it can be adjusted to accommodate the size of a board being cut.

       5 . A sawmill according to claim 1 , comprising a gauge arranged to provide for precise positioning of the deflector.

       6 . A sawmill according to claim 1 , wherein the deflector is hinged so that it can be raised and lowered as required.

       7 . A sawmill having a carriage for moving a saw between two points, the saw having a cutting blade which can move between a substantially vertical cutting position and a substantially horizontal cutting position, the sawmill having a board removal system comprising a deflector flap mounted adjacent the front or rear of the cutting blade such that when a board has been cut from a log by the sawmill that board is pushed from the log by the deflector as another board is being cut from the log adjacent the first mentioned board;
 the board removal system having support rods along which the deflector flap can move to facilitate lateral adjustment of such deflector flap while supported by such rods.

       8 . A sawmill according to claim 7 , formed such that when the saw is adjusted laterally the deflector flap automatically adjusts laterally by substantially the same amount.

       9 . A sawmill according to claim 7 wherein a gauge is mounted on at least one of the support rods for enabling accurate positioning of the deflector flap.
