The present invention discloses a highly potent, non-toxic, disinfectant that can be used for a wide breadth of applications. The disinfectant comprises hydrogen peroxide (H 2 0 2 ), orange terpene oil, orange valencia oil, a non-ionic emulsifier (polysorbate 80), and water (H 2 0). Applications of the disinfectant include, but are not limited to, uses as a mouthwash, skin cleanser, or as a germicidal for disinfecting surfaces such as foodstuff, plant matter, leather, wood, metal, plastic and fabrics. Methods for using the disinfectant composition of the invention are also provided.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method for disinfecting a skin surface comprising contacting a skin surface with a disinfectant composition comprising hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ), orange terpene oil, orange valencia oil, a non-ionic emulsifier, and distilled or deionized water (H 2 O).
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the orange terpene oil is present in the disinfectant composition from 5% to 40% v/v, the orange valencia oil is present in the disinfectant composition from 5% to 40% v/v, the non-ionic emulsifier is present in the disinfectant composition from 5% to 50% v/v, the distilled or deionized H 2 O is present in the disinfectant composition from 5% to 80% v/v and the hydrogen peroxide is present in the disinfectant composition from 1.5% to 8% w/v H 2 O 2 .
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the non-ionic emulsifier of said disinfectant composition comprises a polysorbate.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the non-ionic emulsifier of said disinfectant composition comprises a poly(ethylene oxide).
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the poly(ethylene oxide) is selected from the group consisting of an alkyl polyethyleneoxy ether, an alkyl phenol polyethyleneoxy ether, an polyethyleneoxy amine, and a polyethyleneoxy fatty acid.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the disinfectant composition comprises 5.25% w/v H 2 O 2 , 10% v/v orange terpene oil, 5% v/v orange valencia oil, 10% v/v polysorbate 80, and 60% v/v distilled water.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the disinfectant composition further comprises oil of rosemary.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the disinfectant composition further comprises an antimicrobial agent.
9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the disinfectant composition further comprises a surfactant.
10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the surfactant comprises an alcohol ethoxylate.
11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the disinfectant composition is formulated as a gel, or a spray, or a paste or a disinfecting wipe.Cited by (0)
