Abstract

A snow plow blade including a support frame having a bottom channel member configured to easily secure a snow plow wearstrip is provided. The bottom member has a channel top and front and rear legs extending outwardly at an angle therefrom. The inside surface of the front leg of the bottom channel member include a nut retaining plate secured thereto and including a plurality of securing apertures sized to receive a nut component therein, but preventing the nut from turning or coming loose from the bolt.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A snow plow blade comprising:
a top horizontal member having first and second ends; a bottom horizontal channel member having first and second ends and comprising a channel top and front and rear legs extending outwardly at an angle therefrom, the front leg having inside and outside facing surfaces, the front leg also including a plurality of equally spaced, linearly aligned apertures formed therethrough; a first vertical member connecting the top horizontal member to the bottom horizontal member at the first ends thereof, respectively; a second vertical member connecting the top horizontal member to the bottom horizontal member at the second ends thereof, respectively; and an elongated bar secured to the inside surface of the front leg of the bottom channel member, the bar including a plurality of openings axially aligned with the apertures in the front leg; wherein each of the openings include a sidewall and larger in size than the apertures in the front leg of the bottom member; a plurality of nuts, each nut having outer edges and a width, wherein each of the nuts is positioned at least partially inside one of the apertures such that at least a portion of the outer edges of the nut contacts the sidewall of the opening preventing clockwise and counterclockwise movement of the nut; a wearstrip including a plurality apertures configured to axially align with the apertures in the front leg of the bottom member, the wearstrip positioned on the outside surface of the front leg; and a plurality of bolts, each of the bolts having an end inserted through one of the apertures in the wearstrip, the corresponding axially aligned aperture in the front leg, respectively, and inserted through the corresponding axially aligned opening in the bar and threaded on to the nut.

2 . A snow plow blade as defined in claim 1 , further comprising a moldboard secured to the snow plow blade between outside surface of the front leg of the bottom member and the wearstrip.

3 . A snow plow blade including a front plowing surface and a rear surface configured to mount to a snow plow vehicle, the snow plow blade comprising:
a support frame including a bottom horizontal member having first and second opposing ends, and a front leg having a front side oriented towards the front plowing surface of the snow plow blade and a rear side oriented towards the rear surface of the snow plow blade, the front leg including a plurality of equally spaced apertures, the apertures extending from substantially the first end to substantially the second end of the bottom member; and an elongated nut retaining plate secured to the rear side of the front leg and having a plurality of openings formed therein, the openings in the nut plate configured to substantially axially align with the apertures on the front leg of the bottom member, wherein the openings in the nut plate are larger than the apertures in the front leg, each opening having a continuous side wall.

4 . A snow plow blade of claim 3 , wherein the bottom member comprises an inverted, U-shaped channel member having a top surface and front and rear legs extending outwardly at an angle therefrom.

5 . A snow plow blade of claim 3 , wherein each of the apertures in the front leg of the bottom member are circular and sized to retain a threaded end of a bolt.

6 . A snow plow blade of claim 5 , wherein each of the openings of the retaining plate is oval in shape and is of a size to accommodate a nut having an outer edge, such that the nut fits inside the opening, wherein the outer edge of the nut engages the side wall of the opening and is stationary therein.

       7 . A snow plow blade of claim 6 , further comprising:
a wearstrip having a plurality of apertures formed therein, the apertures in the wearstrip configured to axially align with the apertures on the front leg of the bottom member and axially align with the openings in the nut plate; a plurality of nuts having an outer side wall and a threaded hole formed therethrough, each of the nuts positioned inside one of the openings of the nut plate; a plurality of bolts, each having a threaded end, wherein each of the bolts are inserted through one of the apertures in the wearstrip and the corresponding axially aligned aperture in the front leg of the bottom member from the front plowing surface of the snow plow blade and is threaded on to the nut positioned inside the corresponding axially aligned opening in the nut plate, wherein each bolt is securely tightened to retain the wearstrip.

8 . A snow plow blade of claim 3 , wherein the support frame and the nut plate are each constructed of a metal material and welded together.

9 . A snow plow blade of claim 3 , further comprising a moldboard secured to the snow plow blade between front side of the front leg of the bottom member and the wearstrip.

10 . A snow plow blade including a removable wearstrip having plurality of spaced apart mounting apertures formed along the length thereof, the wearstrip mounted to the plowing side of the snow plow blade, the snow plow blade comprising:
a frame including an elongated bottom member having a front surface, a back surface and a plurality of apertures, axially aligned with the mounting apertures of the wearstrip, formed therethrough; an elongated bar mounted to the back surface of the elongated bottom member, the elongated bar including a plurality of openings formed therein, each of the openings being a larger size than the apertures in the bottom member, each of the openings having a side wall; a plurality nuts, each nut having an outer edge, a width and a threaded aperture, wherein each nut is positioned inside one of the openings in the bar such that at least a portion of the width is inserted therein, and the outer edge of the width portion of the nut contacts and is prevented from turning by the side wall of the corresponding opening; and a plurality of bolts, each bolt inserted from the front side of the snow plow blade through one of the apertures in the wearstrip, the corresponding axially aligned aperture in the bottom member and through the corresponding axially aligned opening in the elongated bar and is secured in place by the nut positioned therein.

11 . A snow plow blade of claim 10 , wherein the bottom member is a channel member comprising first and second ends and having a channel top and front and rear legs extending outwardly at an angle therefrom.
