Abstract

The present invention is directed to compositions of matter useful for the diagnosis and treatment of tumor in mammals and to methods of using those compositions of matter for the same.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
- 3 . (canceled)

. A method of inhibiting the growth of a cell that expresses a protein comprising amino acid sequence shown in FIG. 96 (SEQ ID NO:96), said method comprises contacting said cell with an antibody that binds to said protein, the binding of said antibody to said protein thereby causing an inhibition of growth of said cell.

. The method of claim 4 , wherein said antibody is a monoclonal antibody.

. The method of claim 4 , wherein said antibody is an antibody fragment.

. The method of claim 4 , wherein said antibody is a chimeric or a humanized antibody.

. The method of claim 4 , wherein said antibody is conjugated to a growth inhibitory agent.

. The method of claim 4 , wherein said antibody is conjugated to a cytotoxic agent.

. The method of claim 9 , wherein said cytotoxic agent is selected from the group consisting of toxins, antibiotics, radioactive isotopes and nucleolytic enzymes.

. The method of claim 9 , wherein the cytotoxic agent is a toxin.

. The method of claim 11 , wherein the toxin is selected from the group consisting of maytansinoid and calicheamicin.

. The method of claim 12 , wherein the toxin is a maytansinoid.

. The method of claim 4 , wherein said antibody is produced in bacteria.

. The method of claim 4 , wherein said antibody is produced in CHO cells.

. The method of claim 4 , wherein said cell is a cancer cell.

. The method of claim 16 , wherein said cancer cell is a colon cancer cell.

. The method of claim 16 , wherein said cancer cell is further exposed to radiation treatment or a chemotherapeutic agent.

. The method of claim 4 which causes the death of said cell.

. A method of therapeutically treating a mammal having a cancerous tumor comprising cells that express a protein comprising the amino acid sequence shown in FIG. 96 (SEQ ID NO:96), said method comprises administering to said mammal a therapeutically effective amount of an antibody that binds to said protein, thereby effectively treating said mammal.

. The method of claim 20 , wherein said antibody is a monoclonal antibody.

. The method of claim 20 , wherein said antibody is an antibody fragment.

. The method of claim 20 , wherein said antibody is a chimeric or a humanized antibody.

. The method of claim 20 , wherein said antibody is conjugated to a growth inhibitory agent.

. The method of claim 20 , wherein said antibody is conjugated to a cytotoxic agent.

. The method of claim 25 , wherein said cytotoxic agent is selected from the group consisting of toxins, antibiotics, radioactive isotopes and nucleolytic enzymes.

. The method of claim 25 , wherein the cytotoxic agent is a toxin.

. The method of claim 27 , wherein the toxin is selected from the group consisting of maytansinoid and calicheamicin.

. The method of claim 28 , wherein the toxin is a maytansinoid.

. The method of claim 20 , wherein said antibody is produced in bacteria.

. The method of claim 20 , wherein said antibody is produced in CHO cells.

. The method of claim 20 , wherein said tumor is further exposed to radiation treatment or a chemotherapeutic agent.

. The method of claim 20 , wherein said tumor is a prostate tumor.
