Abstract

A sanitary napkin comprising a topsheet comprising a plurality of discrete tufts of fibrous material, wherein the topsheet has a density of less than 0.027 g/cc under a load of 0.004 psi, and a density of less than 0.068 at a load of 0.23 psi.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A laminate web, comprising:
 (a) a first layer situated proximate a laminate web surface, said first layer comprising an opening defined therein; (b) a second layer situated adjacent said first layer, said second layer comprising a fibrous web comprising a plurality of fibers; (c) a tuft extending from said laminate web surface, said tuft comprising a portion of at least some of said plurality of fibers that has been displaced from said second layer and that extends through said opening; and (d) a cap disposed over said tuft, said cap defined by a portion of material associated with said first layer that has been displaced through creation of said opening.

2 . The laminate web of claim 1 , wherein said first layer comprises a fibrous web.

3 . The laminate web of claim 1 , wherein each of said first layer and said second layer comprises a nonwoven fibrous web.

4 . The laminate web of claim 1 , wherein at least one of said first layer and said second layer comprises nanofibers having a mean diameter of less than one micron.

5 . The laminate web of claim 1 , wherein said first layer comprises a polymeric film.

6 . The laminate web of claim 1 , wherein said laminate web comprises a plurality of tufts extending from said laminate web surface, and wherein spacing between said plurality of tufts varies across said laminate web.

7 . The laminate web of claim 1 , wherein said laminate web comprises a plurality of tufts extending from said laminate web surface, and wherein dimensions of said plurality of tufts varies across said laminate web.

8 . The laminate web of claim 1 , wherein said laminate web comprises a plurality of tufts extending from said laminate web surface, and wherein groups of said plurality of tufts are arranged to form shapes or patterns so that said laminate web has portions of varying degrees of texture, softness, bulk, absorbency or visual appearance.

9 . The laminate web of claim 1 , further comprising a lotion disposed on at least a portion of said laminate web surface.

         10 . A laminate web, comprising:
 (a) a first layer situated proximate a laminate web surface, said first layer comprising a rupture therein defining first and second flaps of first layer material situated on opposing sides of said rupture; (b) a second layer situated adjacent said first layer, said second layer comprising a fibrous web comprising a plurality of fibers; and (c) a tuft extending from said laminate web surface, said tuft comprising a portion of at least some of said plurality of fibers that has been displaced from said second layer and that extends through said rupture; and wherein said first and second flaps extend up and over at least a portion of a distal end of said tuft.

11 . The laminate web of claim 10 , wherein said first and second flaps are connected to from a cap over said distal end of said tuft.

12 . The laminate web of claim 10 , wherein said first layer comprises a fibrous web.

13 . The laminate web of claim 10 , wherein each of said first layer and said second layer comprises a nonwoven fibrous web.

14 . The laminate web of claim 10 , wherein at least one of said first layer and said second layer comprises nanofibers having a mean diameter of less than one micron.

15 . The laminate web of claim 10 , wherein said first layer comprises a polymeric film.

16 . The laminate web of claim 10 , wherein said laminate web comprises a plurality of tufts extending from said laminate web surface, and wherein spacing between said plurality of tufts varies across said laminate web.

17 . The laminate web of claim 10 , wherein said laminate web comprises a plurality of tufts extending from said laminate web surface, and wherein dimensions of said plurality of tufts varies across said laminate web.

18 . The laminate web of claim 10 , wherein said laminate web comprises a plurality of tufts extending from said laminate web surface, and wherein groups of said plurality of tufts are arranged to form shapes or patterns so that said laminate web has portions of varying degrees of texture, softness, bulk, absorbency or visual appearance.

19 . The laminate web of claim 10 , further comprising a lotion disposed on at least a portion of said laminate web surface.

         20 . A laminate web, comprising:
