Coated staple and fastening tool for the same
Abstract
Insulated or coated staple and a fastening tool for driving the same into a substrate. The tool includes a housing and a driver reciprocally mounted in the housing and moveable with respect to the housing, the driver having a driving surface for engaging a fastener such as a coated staple. A magazine assembly is associated with the housing for positioning and aligning the coated fastener in the path of the driver so that when actuated, the driver strikes the fastener and forcibly ejects it from the magazine into the substrate on which the object to be fastened is to be secured. Suitable fasteners include coated staples (of various sizes and configurations), nails, brads, rivets, etc.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A cohered core of staples, comprising:
a plurality of wires each having a uniform cured coating thereon, each of said plurality of uniformly coated wires being formed into staples and interconnected in side-by-side relation to form said cohered core of staples, whereby upon separation of any one of said plurality of uniformly coated wires from said cohered core, said coating on said one of said plurality of uniformly coated wires remains on said one of said plurality of uniformly coated wires; and wherein each said staples comprises a bight portion and a pair of legs extending from said bight portion, each leg terminating in a free end.
2 . The cohered core of staples of claim 1 , wherein each said staple of said cohered core of staples is adapted to secure an object to a substrate.
3 . The cohered core of staples of claim 2 , wherein said object is a wire.
4 . The cohered core of staples of claim 1 , wherein said coating and each of said wires form an integral unitary structure.
5 . The cohered core of staples of claim 1 , wherein said coating has a thickness of from about 0.001 inches to about 0.050 inches.
6 . The cohered core of staples of claim 1 , wherein each of said plurality of wires is bright or galvanized steel.
7 . The cohered core of staples of claim 1 , wherein each said free end terminates in an angled cut.
8 . The cohered core of staples of claim 1 , wherein said coating is selected from the group consisting of nylon, polyethylene, polypropylene, polybutylene, PVC, CPVC, ABS and PVDF.
9 . The cohered core of staples of claim 1 , wherein said coating is nylon.
10 . The cohered core of staples of claim 1 , wherein said coating insulates each of said plurality of wires.Cited by (0)
