Abstract

An image display apparatus capable of adjusting a display picture by an input unit through a computer body is disclosed. When the user inputs a control instruction for adjusting the display picture of the display unit by the input unit connected to the computer body, a control signal addition circuit prepares a control signal Sc corresponding to the control instruction and adds the control signal to a video signal R, G or B or a synchronizing signal Hs or Vs produced by a display control circuit during a vertical retrace period. A control signal separation circuit separates the added control signal Sc from the video signal R, G or B or the synchronizing signal Hs or Vs produced by the control signal addition circuit. A display control circuit produces adjustment signals Sa and Sb on the basis of the control signal from the control signal separation circuit to adjust a video circuit and a deflection circuit. Thus, the user can adjust the display picture by the input unit near at hand without extending the hands to adjustment switches of the display unit.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A display apparatus connectable to an external computer for displaying an image on a screen on the basis of video and synchronization signals from said external computer, comprising:
a memory which is within said display apparatus; a receiver which receives a control signal to control said displayed image, which is generated by operating an input unit of said external computer, wherein said display apparatus is configured to be separate from said external computer; and a control circuit which controls said image on said screen using control data included in said control signal received through said receiver and writes said control data into said memory, wherein, when said display apparatus is turned on, said control circuit reads out said control data from said memory and controls said displayed image on said screen by using said control data read out from said memory.

2 . A display apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said memory is made of an EEPROM.

3 . A display apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising means for sending an acknowledge signal indicating receipt of said control signal to said external computer.

4 . A display apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein said input unit is a mouse.

5 . A display apparatus according to claims 1 , wherein said input unit is a keyboard.

6 . A display apparatus connectable to an external computer for displaying an image on a screen on the basis of video and synchronization signals from said external computer, comprising:
a memory which is within said display apparatus; means for receiving a control signal to control said displayed image, which is generated by operating an input unit of said external computer, wherein said display apparatus is configured to be separate from said external computer; and means for controlling said image on said screen using control data included in said control signal received through said receiver and writing said control data into said memory, wherein, when said display apparatus is turned on, said means for controlling reads out said control data from said memory and controls said displayed image on said screen by using said control data read out from said memory.

7 . A display apparatus according to claim 6 , wherein said memory is made of an EEPROM.

8 . A display apparatus according to claim 6 , further comprising means for sending an acknowledge signal indicating receipt of said control signal to said external computer.

9 . A display apparatus according to claim 6 , wherein said input unit is a mouse.

10 . A display apparatus according to claims 6 , wherein said input unit is a keyboard.

11 . A display apparatus connectable to an external computer for displaying an image on a screen on the basis of video and synchronization signal from said external computer, comprising:
a memory which is within said display apparatus; a receiver which receives control information to control a display size, a display portion or a brightness of said displayed image, which is generated by operating an input unit of said external computer, wherein said display apparatus is configured to be separate from said external computer; and a control circuit which controls said display size, said display portion or said brightness of said displayed image on said screen using said control information received by said receiver and writes said control information into said memory; wherein, when said display apparatus is turned on, said control circuit reads out said control information from said memory and controls said display size, said display portion or said brightness of said displayed image on said screen by using said control information read out from said memory.
