Abstract

A broadcast targeting system is provided where third party database information is utilized in conjunction with broadcast network client information to identify households within the broadcast network including one or more desired recipients of targeted assets. In instances where a user equipment device of the targeted household includes multiple users (i.e., a multiple-user device), use of third party data in conjunction with an indication of which household member is currently using the multiple user device (e.g., set top box, etc.) allows for more effectively delivering assets targeted to a specific member(s) of the household

1 . A method for use in connection with delivering selected content to users of a broadcast network, the broadcast network primarily involving synchronized distribution of broadcast content to multiple users, the method comprising the steps of:
 receiving, at a network platform, an asset dissemination request for an asset, wherein said asset dissemination request includes household targeting criteria for said asset;   identifying network households complying with said household targeting criteria for said asset;   delivering, via a network interface, said asset to at least one of said network households in conjunction with at least one household member criteria for said one household, wherein said asset may be output by said at least one network household upon identifying a putative presence of a household member complying with said household member criteria.   
   
   
       2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein identifying network households comprises:
 accessing third party database information to identify households complying with said household targeting criteria.   
   
   
       3 . The method of  claim 2 , further comprising:
 accessing customer database information to correlate at least a portion of said households complying with said household targeting criteria to network households serviced by said broadcast network.   
   
   
       4 . The method of  claim 3 , further comprising:
 obtaining network addresses for said network households; and   delivering said asset to said network addresses.   
   
   
       5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein delivering comprises:
 delivering said asset and said household member criteria via a broadcast network interface for storage at user equipment devices of said network households, wherein said asset may be output a time subsequent to delivery.   
   
   
       6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said household targeting criteria include at least one of demographic constraints, geographic constraints, and household member composition constraints. 
   
   
       7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said household member criteria comprises a constraint based on at least one of:
 age; and   gender;   
   
   
       8 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 receiving an asset delivery report from said at least one household indicating said asset was delivered to a household member putatively complying with said household member criteria.   
   
   
       9 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein said asset delivery report is received via a network interface. 
   
   
       10 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein receiving said asset dissemination request further comprises receiving said at least one household member criteria. 
   
   
       11 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 determining said at least one household member criteria for each network household, wherein said at least one household member criteria is derived from information obtained form at least one third party database.   
   
   
       12 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said asset is delivered to said at least one household upon receiving a signal from said at least one household

       23 . A method for use in connection with delivering selected content to users of a broadcast network, the broadcast network primarily involving synchronized distribution of broadcast content to multiple users, the method comprising the steps of:
 receiving an asset-dissemination request for an asset, wherein said asset dissemination request includes recipient information identifying a plurality of desired asset recipients;   accessing third party database information to identify households associated with said desired asset recipients;   accessing customer Information database to correlate at least a portion of said households associated with said desired asset recipients to network households serviced by said broadcast network;   delivering said asset to at least a portion of said network households including desired recipients.   
   
   
       24 . The method of  claim 23 , further comprising:
 for each network household including a desired recipient, determining a household member criteria for use in delivering said asset to said desired recipient, wherein said household member criteria is delivered with said asset.   
   
   
       25 . The method of  claim 24 , wherein determining a household member criteria comprises:
 accessing third party database information to determine at least one demographic characteristic of said desired recipient of said network household.   
   
   
       26 . The method of  claim 23 , wherein said asset recipient information comprises a list of identified individuals. 
   
   
       27 . The method of  claim 23 , wherein said asset recipient information comprises identification of a specified group, wherein members of said group are identified using said third party database information. 
   
   
       28 . The method of  claim 23 , further comprising receiving a notification from said network household that said asset was delivered. 
   
   
       29 . The method of  claim 28 , further comprising:
 delivering a notification to an asset provider that provided said asset indicating the asset was delivered.   
   
   
       30 . The method of  claim 23 , wherein said asset is inserted in a content stream for real-time delivery to at least one of said network households. 
   
   
       31 . The method of  claim 23 , wherein said asset is delivered to a user equipment device of at least a portion of said network households for subsequent delivery.
