Abstract

An improved baby changing station which is utilized primarily to change the diapers of a baby or young child. The design includes an upper changing area with specially shaped protective ridges. The design further includes a lower supporting portion which is divided into at least three distinct areas. A first area is utilized for undersink storage. A second lower area includes multiple drawers for storage of sundry items. A third lower area contains stairs or steps for a toddler to use as needed. The design provides a safe floor-mounted and efficient changing station as compared to the fold-down wall mounted units currently in widespread use.

       11 . A method of changing a diaper of a baby or toddler comprising the steps of:
 A) placing a baby or toddler on top of a changing station,   B) providing that said changing station have a top comprised of solid side and back ridges and a front ridge having two depressed areas,   C) providing that said baby changing station have a lower portion comprising three compartments for general storage and for storage of a slideable small staircase,   D) providing that one of said depressed ridge areas is positioned directly over the small staircase,   E) providing that a second of said depressed areas ( 34   b ) is located just outside of a sink ( 24 ) to reduce bruising of arms of a changing person,   F) providing that said slideable small staircase includes a side wall having an elongated smooth aperture ( 68 ) formed therein for a toddler to grasp while being assisted to the top of the station.
