Reversible tent rainfly

Abstract

A rainfly ( 24 ) for a tent ( 20 ). The rainfly ( 24 ) includes a fabric having first and second sides ( 26, 28 ), the first side ( 26 ) being configured to reflect radiant heat energy of the sun so that the inside of a tent on which the rainfly is placed is maintained cooler than a tent not having such a rainfly, and the second side ( 28 ) being configured to absorb or retain radiant heat energy of the sun and keep the tent inside warmer in the winter than a tent not utilizing such a rainfly.

1 . A rainfly, comprising:
 a fabric having first and second sides, the first side being configured to reflect radiant heat energy of the sun so that the inside of a tent on which the rainfly is placed is maintained cooler in the sun than a tent not having such a rainfly, and the second side being configured to absorb or retain radiant heat energy of the sun and keep the tent inside warmer in the sun than a tent not utilizing such a rainfly.   
   
   
       2 . The rainfly of  claim 1 , further comprising a laminated fabric with a first fabric extending along and attached to a second fabric, and wherein the first fabric comprises the first side, and wherein the second fabric comprises the second side. 
   
   
       3 . The rainfly of  claim 2 , wherein the laminated fabric comprises a coating with white pigments positioned in between the first and second layers of the fabric. 
   
   
       4 . The rainfly of  claim 3 , wherein the coating comprises a urethane coating. 
   
   
       5 . The rainfly of  claim 4 , wherein the white pigments comprise titanium dioxide. 
   
   
       6 . The rainfly of  claim 3 , wherein the white pigments comprise titanium dioxide. 
   
   
       7 . The rainfly of  claim 2 , wherein the first fabric comprises a light color fabric and the second fabric comprises a dark color fabric. 
   
   
       8 . The rainfly of  claim 1 , wherein the fabric comprises only one piece of fabric. 
   
   
       9 . The rainfly of  claim 8 , wherein said only one piece of fabric comprises a coating with dark pigments on the second side of the fabric and a reflective coating on the first side of the fabric. 
   
   
       10 . The rainfly of  claim 8 , wherein said only one piece of fabric comprises a dark fabric coated with a coating on the first side. 
   
   
       11 . The rainfly of  claim 10 , wherein the coating on the first side comprises ultraviolet blocking additives. 
   
   
       12 . The rainfly of  claim 10 , wherein the coating on the first side comprises a urethane coating with aluminum paste. 
   
   
       13 . A rainfly comprising a coating with ultraviolet protective additive. 
   
   
       14 . The rainfly of  claim 13 , wherein the coating comprises an ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) of 50 UPF or higher. 
   
   
       15 . The rainfly of  claim 13 , wherein the coating comprises a urethane coating with aluminum paste. 
   
   
       16 . The rainfly of  claim 1 , further including an attachment structure for permitting attachment of the rainfly to a tent with either the first side or the second side facing the tent. 
   
   
       17 . A tent comprising the rainfly of  claim 1 . 
   
   
       18 . A rainfly comprising a first side configured to reflect radiant heat energy of the sun so that the inside of a tent on which the rainfly is placed is maintained cooler than a tent not having such a rainfly. 
   
   
       19 . The rainfly of  claim 18 , wherein the first side comprises a coating with white pigments positioned in between the first and second layers of the fabric. 
   
   
       20 . The rainfly of  claim 19 , wherein the coating comprises a urethane coating. 
   
   
       21 . The rainfly of  claim 20 , wherein the white pigments comprise titanium dioxide. 
   
   
       22 . The rainfly of  claim 19 , wherein the white pigments comprise titanium dioxide. 
   
   
       23 . The rainfly of  claim 18 , wherein the first side comprises a light color fabric. 
   
   
       24 . A tent comprising the rainfly of  claim 18 . 
   
   
       25 . A rainfly comprising a first side configured to absorb or retain radiant heat energy of the sun and keep a tent under the rainfly warmer in the sun than a tent not utilizing such a rainfly. 
   
   
       26 . The rainfly of  claim 25 , wherein the first side comprises a dark color fabric. 
   
   
       27 . The rainfly of  claim 25 , wherein the first side comprises a a coating with dark pigments.
