Abstract
A round of negotiation for an item is initiated between a plurality of bidders at a plurality of client nodes and a host processing node. A price bid for the item is received from each of the plurality of bidders. At least one negotiation parameter is received from at least one of the plurality of bidders. The negotiation parameter is associated with the item. A total cost value is determined based on an active negotiation term, the price bid, and the negotiation parameter for each of the plurality of bidders.
Claims

building at least one pane on a graphical user interface of at least one of a plurality of bidders at a respective plurality of client nodes in communication with a host processing node and engaged in a negotiation event, wherein the negotiation event includes a plurality of negotiation terms, including at least one price related negotiation term and at least one non-price related negotiation term; determining and displaying, in the at least one pane on the graphical user interface, the market position of the bidder relative to other bidders participating in the negotiation event for at least one of the plurality of negotiation terms; and determining and displaying, in the at least one pane on the graphical user interface, a market position of the bidder relative to other bidders participating in the negotiation event for a total cost value of a basis bid, which is determined based at least in part upon the plurality of negotiation terms of the bidder.
2 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein values for a plurality of the negotiation terms of the bidder are ranked in the order from market leading to market lagging relative to values for the plurality of the negotiation terms bids of other bidders in the negotiation event.
3 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying the market position as a market lead gap.
4 . The computer-implemented method of claim 3 , wherein the market lead gap is in the form of a value of at least one of the following: at least one of the negotiation terms and the total cost value of the basis bid.
5 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one non-price related negotiation term is represented by a score.
6 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the plurality of negotiation terms is weighted with respect to another of the plurality of negotiation terms.
7 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:
receiving a new value for at least one of the plurality of negotiation terms; revising the value of the at least one of the plurality of negotiation terms; and displaying the revised value of the at least one of the plurality of negotiation terms.
8 . The computer-implemented method of claim 7 , further comprising:
revising the total cost value of the basis bid based at least in part upon the revised value of the at least one of the plurality of negotiation terms; and displaying the revised total cost value.
9 . The computer-implemented method of claim 7 , wherein the receiving, revising and displaying steps are performed prior to submission of a subsequent bid from the client node to the host processing node.
10 . The computer-implemented method of claim 7 , wherein the revising and displaying steps are implemented substantially in real time.
11 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying a formula underlying at least one negotiation term to the bidder.
12 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying the market position of the bidder in at least one of the following forms: alphanumeric text, a color, an icon, a graphic, a sound, or any combination thereof.
13 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of data supportive of or displayed on the at least one pane of the graphical user interface is accessible by a third party.
14 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising transmitting at least one of the following: the total cost value, a value of the at least one price related negotiation parameter, a value of the at least one non-price related negotiation parameter, a revised total cost value, a revised value of the at least one price related negotiation parameter, a revised value of the at least one non-price related negotiation parameter, or any combination thereof, from a client node to the host processing node.
15 . The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one non-price related negotiation parameter is related to at least one of the following: a quality system qualification, lead time, at least one payment term, spoilage, tooling, fixturing, plastic molding qualifications, or any combination thereof.
16 . A computer-implemented method, comprising:
building at least one pane a graphical user interface of at least one of a plurality of bidders at a respective plurality of client nodes in communication with a host processing node and engaged in a negotiation event, wherein the negotiation event includes a plurality of negotiation terms, including at least one price related negotiation term and at least one non-price related negotiation term; and determining and displaying, in the at least one pane on the graphical user interface, a monetized impact for at least one of the plurality of negotiation terms relative to a total cost value of a basis bid, which is determined based at least in part upon the plurality of negotiation terms of the bidder.
17 . The computer-implemented method of claim 16 , wherein the at least one non-price related negotiation term is represented by a score.
18 . The computer-implemented method of claim 16 , wherein at least one of the plurality of negotiation terms is weighted with respect to another of the plurality of negotiation terms.
19 . The computer-implemented method of claim 16 , further comprising:
receiving a new value for at least one of the plurality of negotiation terms; revising the value of the at least one of the plurality of negotiation terms; and displaying the revised value of the at least one of the plurality of negotiation terms.
20 . The computer-implemented method of claim 19 , further comprising:
revising the monetized impact of the at least one of the plurality of negotiation terms based at least in part upon the revised value of the at least one of the plurality of negotiation terms; and displaying the revised monetized impact.
21 . The computer-implemented method of claim 19 , wherein the receiving, revising and displaying steps are performed prior to submission of a subsequent bid from the client node to the host processing node.
22 . The computer-implemented method of claim 19 , wherein the revising and displaying steps are implemented substantially in real time.
23 . The computer-implemented method of claim 16 , further comprising displaying a formula underlying at least one negotiation term to the bidder.
24 . The computer-implemented method of claim 16 , wherein at least a portion of data supportive of or displayed on the at least one pane of the graphical user interface is accessible by a third party.
25 . The computer-implemented method of claim 16 , further comprising transmitting at least one of the following: the monetized impact for at least one of the plurality of negotiation terms, a value of the at least one price related negotiation parameter, a value of the at least one non-price related negotiation parameter, a revised monetized impact for at least one of the plurality of negotiation terms, a revised value of the at least one price related negotiation parameter, a revised value of the at least one non-price related negotiation parameter, or any combination thereof, from a client node to the host processing node.
