4- [2- (4-methylphenylsulfanyd-phenyl] piperidine with combined serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibition for the treatment of adhd, melancholia, treatment resistent depression or residual symptoms in depression

Abstract

The use of 4-[2-(4-methylphenylsulfanyl)phenyl]piperidine and acid additions salts thereof for the treatment of ADHD, melancholia, treatment resistant depression or residual symptoms in depression is provided.

1 . A method for the treatment of ADHD, melancholia, treatment resistant depression or residual symptoms in depression, the method comprising the administration of a therapeutically effective amount of 4-[2-(4-methylphenylsulfanyl)phenyl]piperidine and acid additions salts thereof (compound I) to a patient in need thereof. 
   
   
       2 . The method according to  claim 1 , wherein compound I is the HBr addition salt. 
   
   
       3 . The method according to  claim 2 , wherein compound I is characterised by peaks in an XRPD at approximately 6.08, 14.81, 19.26 and 25.38° 2θ. 
   
   
       4 . The method according to  claim 3 , wherein compound I is characterised by an XRPD as depicted in  FIG. 1 . 
   
   
       5 . The method according to any of  claims 1 - 4 , wherein compound I is administered at 5-60 mg/day. 
   
   
       6 . The use of 4-[2-(4-methylphenylsulfanyl)phenyl]piperidine and acid additions salts thereof (compound I) in the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment of ADHD, melancholia, treatment resistant depression or residual symptoms in depression. 
   
   
       7 . The use according to  claim 6 , wherein compound I is the HBr addition salt. 
   
   
       8 . The use according to  claim 7 , wherein compound I is characterised by peaks in an XRPD at approximately 6.08, 14.81, 19.26 and 25.38° 2θ. 
   
   
       9 . The use according to  claim 8 , wherein compound I is characterised by an XRPD as depicted in  FIG. 1 . 
   
   
       10 . The use according to any of  claims 6 - 9 , wherein said medicament is intended for administration at 5-60 mg/day. 
   
   
       11 . 4-[2-(4-methylphenylsulfanyl)phenyl]piperidine and acid additions salts thereof for use in the treatment of ADHD, melancholia, treatment resistant depression or residual symptoms in depression. 
   
   
       12 . The compound according to  claim 11 , which compound is the HBr addition salt. 
   
   
       13 . The compound according to  claim 12 , which compound is characterised by peaks in an XRPD at approximately 6.08, 14.81, 19.26 and 25.38° 2θ. 
   
   
       14 . The compound according to  claim 13 , which compound is characterised by an XRPD as depicted in  FIG. 1 . 
   
   
       15 . The compound according to any of  claims 11 - 14 , wherein said compound is administered at 5-60 mg/day.
