Display mounting configurations for gaming machines

Abstract

A video display for a gaming machine has pairs of outwardly extending mounting pins or bushings. The mounting pins may extend outwardly from opposing sides of a frame supporting the display. The pins are configured to mate with corresponding slots in at least one display mount. The display mount may be connected to a cabinet or door of a gaming machine. The display mount has corresponding slots for accepting the mounting pins.

1 . A mounting configuration for a display of a gaming machine comprising:
 a generally planar electronic video display configured to present game information, said video display having a first side and an opposing second side and a top and a bottom, first and second mounting pins extending outwardly from said first and second sides towards said top and third and fourth mounting pins extending outwardly from said first and second sides towards said bottom, said first and second mounting pins generally in alignment with one another and said third and fourth pins generally in alignment with one another; and   at least one display mount configured to accept said display, said at least one display mount defining opposing first and second slots configured to accept said first and second mounting pins and opposing third and fourth slots below said first and second slots, said third and fourth slots configured to accept said third and fourth pins.   
   
   
       2 . The mounting configuration in accordance with  claim 1  wherein said pins have a body and a head. 
   
   
       3 . The mounting configuration in accordance with  claim 1  wherein said slots are generally “L” shaped having an inwardly extending portion and a downwardly extending portion. 
   
   
       4 . The mounting configuration in accordance with  claim 1  wherein said at least one display mount comprises a frame having opposing first and second sides, each side containing two of said first, second, third and fourth slots. 
   
   
       5 . The mounting configuration in accordance with  claim 1  wherein said display is mounted to a frame and said first, second, third and fourth pins extend outwardly from said frame. 
   
   
       6 . The mounting configuration in accordance with  claim 1  wherein said at least one display mount comprises a first bracket and a second bracket, said first bracket defining said first and third slots and said second bracket defining said second and fourth slots. 
   
   
       7 . The mounting configuration in accordance with  claim 1  wherein said at least one display mount is connected to a door of said gaming machine. 
   
   
       8 . The mounting configuration in accordance with  claim 1  wherein said display mount comprises at least one flange connected to a gaming cabinet of said gaming machine. 
   
   
       9 . The mounting configuration in accordance with  claim 1  wherein said at least one display mount is located adjacent to a viewing opening for said display. 
   
   
       10 . The mounting configuration in accordance with  claim 9  wherein said viewing opening is located in a door of said gaming machine. 
   
   
       11 . A method of mounting a display to a door of a gaming apparatus comprising the steps of:
 providing a display with a plurality of apertures along a perimeter thereof;   providing at least one bracket at an interior of said door, said bracket having a plurality of apertures and a plurality of slots; and   connecting said display to said at least one bracket by:   affixing a bushing to one said apertures of said display and engaging said bushing with one of said slots; or   engaging a fastener to one or more of said apertures of said display and corresponding apertures of said at least one bracket.   
   
   
       12 . The method in accordance with  claim 11  wherein each bushing has a body and an enlarged head and said step of engaging said bushing comprises passing said body into said slot. 
   
   
       13 . The method in accordance with  claim 11  including the step of providing two spaced brackets, each bracket having at least one slot and including the step of affixing at least one bushing to opposing sides of said display and engaging at least one bushing on each side of said display with a corresponding slot in each bracket. 
   
   
       14 . The method in accordance with  claim 11  further comprising the step of mounting said display to a frame, said frame having said apertures formed therein. 
   
   
       15 . The method in accordance with  claim 11  wherein said display is a flat-panel display.
