Abstract

Various approaches are introduced to provide link adaptation to maximize the resource utilization of the satellite network: (i) a method to adapt the transmission rate for packet voice and data traffics; (ii) a method to control the transmit power of packet voice and data channels; and (iii) a method to accomplish the feedback loop in a secured and correct manner.

1 . A method for rate adaptation in a GEO satellite network, the method comprising:
 adaptively transmitting VOIP bursts in a GEO satellite network using two different data rates.   
     
     
         2 . A method for transmitting power control for VOIP burst in a GEO satellite network, the method comprising:
 adjusting target of signal quality measurement in accordance with varying wireless environment; or   adjusting transmit power to meet the desired signal quality target.   
     
     
         3 . A method for transmitting power control for packet data burst in a GEO satellite network, the method comprising:
 adjusting target of signal quality measurement in accordance with varying wireless environment; or   adjusting transmit power to meet the desired signal quality target.
