Nematode control agent

Abstract

A composition for the control of nematodes consisting of salicylaldehyde and a surfactant. Garlic extract added to the salicylaldehyde provides a composition that demonstrates a more potent control action against potato cyst nematodes.

1 . A composition for the control of nematodes comprising at least salicylaldehyde and a surfactant. 
     
     
         2 . The composition as in  claim 1 , wherein the nematodes are potato cyst nematodes. 
     
     
         3 . The composition as in  claim 1 , further comprising garlic extract. 
     
     
         4 . The composition as in  claim 1  wherein said surfactant is a dispersant. 
     
     
         5 . The composition as in  claim 3 , wherein said composition is granulated.

         7 . A method for the control of soil nematodes comprising:
 forming a mixture of salicylaldehyde and a surfactant; and   applying the mixture to soil infected with nematodes.   
     
     
         8 . The method as in  claim 7 , further comprising adding garlic extract to said mixture prior to applying the mixture to the soil. 
     
     
         9 . The method as in  claim 7 , wherein said nematodes are potato cyst nematodes. 
     
     
         10 . A method for the control of soil nematodes comprising applying garlic extract to soil infected with said nematodes.
