Abstract

A method for performing a procedure on a patient, includes obtaining a biometric image representative of the patient and performing the procedure on the patient in accordance with the biometric image. The patient has an iris and the biometric image comprises an iris biometric image and the procedure comprises a medical procedure. First and second iris biometric images; are obtained and the first and second iris biometric images are compared to provide a biometric comparison result. A patient is identified in accordance with the biometric comparison result. The patient has at least one feature and the feature is represented within at least one of the first and second iris biometric images.

1 . A method for performing a procedure on a patient, comprising:
 a) obtaining a biometric image representative of said patient; and   b) performing said procedure on said patient in accordance with said biometric image.   
   
   
       2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said patient has an iris and said biometric image comprises an iris biometric image. 
   
   
       3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said patient has a retina and said biometric image comprises a retina biometric image. 
   
   
       4 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising obtaining a first and a second biometric image and comparing said first and said second image to provide a biometric comparison result. 
   
   
       5 . The method of  claim 4 , further comprising identifying a patient in need of treatment with said biometric comparison result. 
   
   
       6 . The method of  claim 5 , wherein said patient in need of treatment comprises at least one feature, said feature is represented within at least one of said first and said second biometric image. 
   
   
       7 . The method of  claim 6 , further comprising identifying a retina or an iris comprising said at least one feature. 
   
   
       8 . The method of  claim 7 , further comprising performing a medical procedure in accordance with said identifying. 
   
   
       9 . The method of  claim 7 , further comprising determining a location of said iris or said retina in accordance with said at least one feature. 
   
   
       10 . The method of  claim 7 , further comprising determining an orientation of said iris or said retina in accordance with said at least one feature. 
   
   
       11 . The method of  claim 7 , further comprising altering a relative location of said iris or said retina in accordance with said at least one feature. 
   
   
       12 . The method of  claim 2 , further comprising a medical diagnosis or a surgical procedure in accordance with said image. 
   
   
       13 . The method of  claim 3 , further comprising a medical diagnosis or a surgical procedure in accordance with said image. 
   
   
       14 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein said procedure comprises a medical procedure. 
   
   
       15 . The method of  claim 14 , further comprising translating said patient within a coordinate system in accordance with said image. 
   
   
       16 . The method of  claim 14 , further comprising performing said medical procedure on an eye of said patient in accordance with said image.
