Abstract
A collapsible cot with support legs that folds under the cot. This allows the cot support fabric to be attached at the ends of the support rails and keep the support fabric tight. This eliminates the need to have and extra support bar across the front and back of the cot.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A cot comprising:
a first side rail comprising a first member coupled to a second member; a second side rail comprising a third member coupled to a fourth member; the first side rail and the second side rail are positioned parallel to each other; a flexible body supporting sheet suspended between the first side rail and the second side rail; a first pair of legs comprising a first leg and a second leg wherein the first leg is coupled to the first member with a first couple and the first leg is coupled to the second leg with a second couple and the second leg is coupled to the third member with a third couple; a second pair of legs comprising a third leg and a fourth leg wherein the third leg is coupled to the third member with a fourth couple and the third leg is coupled to the fourth leg with a fifth couple and the fourth leg is coupled to the first member with a sixth couple; a third pair of legs comprising a fifth leg and a sixth leg wherein the fifth leg is coupled to the second member with a seventh couple and the fifth leg is coupled to the sixth leg with an eighth couple and the sixth leg is coupled to the fourth member with a ninth couple; a fourth pair of legs comprising a seventh leg and an eight leg wherein the seventh leg is coupled to the fourth member with a tenth couple and the seventh leg is coupled to the eighth leg with an eleventh couple and the eight leg is coupled to the second member with a twelfth couple; and a fifth pair of legs comprising a ninth leg and a tenth leg wherein the ninth leg is coupled to the first side rail with a thirteenth couple and ninth leg is coupled the tenth leg with a fourteenth couple and the tenth leg is coupled to the second side rail with a fifteenth couple.
2 . The cot of claim 1 wherein the second couple and the eighth couple are positioned under the second side rail.
3 . The cot of claim 2 wherein the fifth couple and the eleventh couple is positioned under the first side rail.
4 . The cot of claim 1 wherein the first side rail has a front face and a back face and the second side rail has a front face and a back face;
the first couple is positioned closer to the first side rail front face than the sixth couple; and the fourth couple is positioned closer to the second side rail front face than the third couple.
5 . The cot of claim 4 wherein the seventh couple is positioned closer to the first side rail back face than the ninth couple; and
the tenth couple is positioned closer to the second side rail back face than the ninth couple.
6 . The cot of claim 1 wherein the third leg is coupled to the first leg and the fifth leg is coupled to the seventh leg.
7 . The cot of claim 1 wherein the ninth leg has a middle and the tenth leg has a middle and the fourteenth couple is in the middle of the ninth leg and the middle of the tenth leg.
8 . The cot of claim 1 further comprising a first pin used to prevent movement of the second leg.
9 . The cot of claim 8 further comprising a second pin used to prevent movement of the eighth leg.
10 . The cot of claim 1 further comprising a means for lifting the flexible body support sheet.
11 . A method for folding a cot comprising:
moving a first member of a first side rail and a first member of a second side rail until they are parallel with a second member of the first side rail and a second member of the second side rail; moving a first pair of legs and second pair of legs toward a bottom of the cot until they are parallel with first side rail and the second side rail; moving a third pair of legs and a fourth pair of legs toward a bottom of the cot until they are parallel with first side rail and the second side rail; and moving a fifth pair of legs and causing the first side rail and the second side rails to meet together.
12 . The method for folding a cot of claim 11 further comprising removing a pin from the first pair of legs.
13 . The method for folding a cot of claim 11 further comprising wrapping a strap around the first side rail and the second side rail.
14 . The method for folding a cot of claim 11 further comprising using a handle to lift a flexible body supporting sheet.
15 . A cot comprising:
a first side rail comprising a first member coupled with a first hinge to a second member; a second side rail comprising a third member coupled with a second hinge to a fourth member; the first side rail and the second side rail positioned parallel to each other; a flexible body supporting sheet suspended between the first side rail and the second side rail; a first pair of legs comprising a first leg and a second leg wherein the first leg is coupled with a third hinge to the first member and the first leg is coupled with a fourth hinge to the second leg and the second leg is coupled with a fifth hinge to the third member; a second pair of legs comprising a third leg and a fourth leg wherein the third leg is coupled with a sixth hinge to the third member and the third leg is coupled with a seventh hinge to the fourth leg and the fourth leg is coupled with an eight hinge to the first member; a third pair of legs comprising a fifth leg and a sixth leg wherein the fifth leg is coupled with a ninth hinge to the second member and the fifth leg coupled with a tenth hinge to the sixth leg and the sixth leg is coupled with a eleventh hinge to the fourth member; a fourth pair of legs comprising a seventh leg and a eighth leg wherein the seventh leg is coupled with a twelfth hinge to the fourth member and the seventh leg is coupled with a thirteenth hinge to the eighth leg and the eighth leg is coupled with a fourteenth hinge to the second member; and a fifth pair of legs comprising a ninth leg and a tenth leg wherein the ninth leg is coupled with a fifteenth hinge to the first hinge and the ninth leg is coupled with a sixteenth hinge to the tenth leg and the tenth leg is coupled with a hinge to the second hinge.
16 . The cot of claim 15 further comprising a first pin used to lock in place the fifth hinge.
17 . The cot of claim 16 further comprising a second pin used to lock in place the fourteenth hinge.
18 . The cot of claim 15 wherein the first side rail has a front face and a back face and the second side rail has a front face and a back face;
the third hinge is positioned closer to the first side rail front face than the eighth hinge; the sixth hinge is positioned closer to the second side rail front face than the fifth hinge; the ninth hinge is positioned closer to the first side rail back face than the fourteenth hinge; and the twelfth hinge is positioned closer to the second side rail back face than the eleventh hinge.
