Abstract

The present invention is directed to an interactive intelligent toy comprising an intelligent element configured to resemble a person, animal, vehicle or other character and an auxiliary component configured to engage with and direct action of the toy. The intelligent element is adapted to perform certain actions upon contact with its environment and in response to the auxiliary component. The motive component also engages with a coupling component and supplies the drive mechanism and power source for moving both the motive component and the coupling component.

Claims

1 . An interactive intelligent toy, comprising:
a motive component having a drive mechanism capable of transporting said motive component, said motive component configured to engage with and detect an auxiliary component and perform an action in response to said auxiliary component; and an auxiliary component configured to releasably engage with said motive component and detectable by said motive component to direct an action.

2 . The interactive intelligent toy of claim 1 , wherein said motive component comprises a sensor operable to detect a presence or absence of said auxiliary component.

3 . The interactive intelligent toy of claim 2 , wherein said sensor comprises a switch.

4 . The interactive intelligent toy of claim 1 , wherein said motive component comprises a sensor operable to detect a signal from a corresponding transmitter in said auxiliary component.

5 . The interactive intelligent toy of claim 1 , wherein said motive component comprises control circuitry operable to detect said auxiliary component and to command movement of said motive component in response to a detected presence or absence of said auxiliary sensor comprises a plurality of sensors.

6 . The interactive intelligent toy of claim 1 , wherein said sensor comprises an RFID receiver.

7 . The interactive intelligent toy of claim 1 , wherein said motive component comprises control circuitry.

8 . The interactive intelligent toy of claim 7 , wherein said control circuitry comprises a microcontroller operable to execute programmed instructions, to monitor inputs and control outputs according to programmed instructions and to generate sound signals.

9 . The interactive intelligent toy of claim 1 , wherein said action comprises a movement, a sound, a color change, generation of a light or a combination thereof.

10 . The interactive intelligent toy of claim 1 , wherein said drive mechanism comprises a motor in communication with wheels.

11 . The interactive intelligent toy of claim 1 , wherein said motive component is configured to resemble a person, animal, vehicle or character.

12 . The interactive intelligent toy of claim 11 , wherein the motive component is configured to resemble a pet.

13 . An interactive intelligent toy, comprising:
a motive component comprising a drive mechanism, control circuitry, and sensors, said control circuitry operable to command the motive component to perform an action and to detect an auxiliary component; and an auxiliary component in proximity to said motive component, said auxiliary component operable to provide direction to said control circuitry to direct said action.

14 . The interactive intelligent toy of claim 13 , wherein said control circuitry is operable to communicate with said drive mechanism, and wherein said control circuitry commands said drive mechanism in response to said detected auxiliary component.

15 . The interactive intelligent toy of claim 14 , wherein said control circuitry is operable to generate a sound in response to detecting said auxiliary component.

16 . The interactive intelligent toy of claim 14 , wherein said motive component is directed by said control circuitry to perform at least one predetermined action in response to said detected auxiliary component.

17 . The interactive intelligent toy of claim 16 , wherein said predetermined action comprises a movement action, a sound action, or combinations thereof.

18 . An interactive intelligent toy, comprising:
at least one motive component having a drive mechanism and power source; an auxiliary component engaged with said motive component and configured to direct an action of said motive component; and at least one coupling component configured to couple with said motive component in a manner such that said drive mechanism of the motive component moves both the motive component and the coupling component in tandem.

19 . The interactive intelligent toy of claim 18 , wherein said drive mechanism comprises a motor in communication with wheels.
