Combination grip for an exercise device

Abstract

An exercise device having many advantageous features is described, including the ability to provide a combination of grips to the user, and the ability to easily mount the device to a wall. One exercise device described is an inelastic resistance device having a combination grip that includes hand grips and a loop. The hand grip and loop may be used as a foot grip, or alternatively, just the hand grip can be used by the hand. The selection of a specific accessory grip allows the user to exercise by specific body parts and provides for a greater number of possible exercises.

1 . A grip for use by a user of an exercise device, said grip comprising:
 an elongated member, where said elongated member is in the form of a figure-8 and defines a cross-over portion, a first loop attached to the exercise device, where said first loop extends to the cross-over portion, and a second loop, where said second loop extends from said cross-over portion;   a hand grip slidably attached to said elongated member near said cross-over portion, where the size of said second loop is adjustable according to the position of said hand grip on said elongated member; and   means for restricting the minimum size of said second loop.   
     
     
         2 . The grip of  claim 1 , where said hand grip includes a hollow tubular portion having a first end and a second end, and where said cross-over portion is between said first end and said second end. 
     
     
         3 . The grip of  claim 1 , where said second loop is sized to restrain a foot. 
     
     
         4 . The grip of  claim 1 , where said elongated member includes a webbing. 
     
     
         5 . The grip of  claim 1 , where the size of said second loop is adjustable by pulling said hand grip away from the exercise device. 
     
     
         6 . The grip of  claim 1 , where said hand grip engages said elongated member when said second loop is pulled away from said exercise device. 
     
     
         7 . The grip of  claim 6 , where, when said second loop is pulled away from the exercise device, said second loop does not substantially change in size. 
     
     
         8 . The grip of  claim 1 , where said elongated member is removably attached to the exercise device. 
     
     
         9 . The grip of  claim 1 , where said elongated member is attached to the exercise device. 
     
     
         10 . The grip of  claim 1 , where said means includes means to restrict the slidability of said hand grip along said second loop. 
     
     
         11 . A grip for use by a user of an exercise device, said grip comprising:
 an elongated member attached to the exercise device, where said elongated member includes a flexible material;   a hand grip slidably attached to said elongated member, where a portion of said elongated member is a loop having loop ends each in contact with said hand grip, where said loop is a first loop, where said elongated member is a second loop attached to the exercise device, and where the length of said elongated member of said loop between said loop ends is adjustable according to the position of said hand grip on said elongated member; and   means for restricting the minimum size of said second loop.   
     
     
         12 . The grip of  claim 11 , where said first loop is sized to restrain a foot. 
     
     
         13 . The grip of  claim 11 , where said flexible material includes a webbing. 
     
     
         14 . The grip of  claim 11 , where said hand grip is removable from said elongated member. 
     
     
         15 . The grip of  claim 11 , where the length of said elongated member of said first loop is adjustable by pulling said hand grip away from the exercise device. 
     
     
         16 . The grip of  claim 11 , where said hand grip has one or more passageways therethrough, and where said elongated member passes through at least one of said one or more passageways. 
     
     
         17 . The grip of  claim 11 , where said hand grip includes a hollow tubular portion, and where said elongated member forms a figure-8 which defines a cross-over portion, and where said cross-over portion is within said hollow tubular portion. 
     
     
         18 . The grip of  claim 11 , where said elongated member is removably attached to said elongated member. 
     
     
         19 . The grip of  claim 11 , where said elongated member is affixed to said exercise device. 
     
     
         20 . The grip of  claim 11 , where said means includes means to restrict the slidability of said hand grip along said loop. 
     
     
         21 . A grip for use by a user of an exercise device, said grip comprising:
 an elongated member, where said elongated member is in the form of a figure-8 and defines a cross-over portion, a first loop attached to the exercise device, where said first loop extends to the cross-over portion, and a second loop, where said second loop extends from said cross-over portion,   an element attached to a fixed position on said second loop; and   a hand grip slidably attached to said elongated member near said cross-over portion,   where the size of said second loop is adjustable according to the position of said hand grip on said elongated member, and   where said element restricts the slidability of said hand grip along said second loop.   
     
     
         22 . The grip of  claim 21 , where said hand grip includes a hollow tubular portion having a first end and a second end, and where said cross-over portion is between said first end and said second end. 
     
     
         23 . The grip of  claim 21 , where said second loop is sized to restrain a foot. 
     
     
         24 . The grip of  claim 21 , where said elongated member includes a webbing. 
     
     
         25 . The grip of  claim 21 , where the size of said second loop is adjustable by pulling said hand grip away from the exercise device. 
     
     
         26 . The grip of  claim 21 , where said hand grip engages said elongated member when said second loop is pulled away from said exercise device. 
     
     
         27 . The grip of  claim 26 , where, when said second loop is pulled away from the exercise device, said second loop does not substantially change in size. 
     
     
         28 . The grip of  claim 21 , where said element is a padding. 
     
     
         29 . The grip of  claim 21 , where said elongated member is removably attached to the exercise device. 
     
     
         30 . The grip of  claim 21 , where said elongated member is attached to the exercise device. 
     
     
         31 . A grip for use by a user of an exercise device, said grip comprising:
 an elongated member attached to the exercise device, where said elongated member includes a flexible material;   a hand grip slidably attached to said elongated member, where a portion of said elongated member is a loop having loop ends each in contact with said hand grip, where said loop is a first loop, and where said elongated member is a second loop attached to the exercise device; and   an element attached to a fixed position on said second loop,   where the length of said elongated member of said loop between said loop ends is adjustable according to the position of said hand grip on said elongated member, and   where said element restricts the slidability of said hand grip along said loop.   
     
     
         32 . The grip of  claim 31 , where said first loop is sized to restrain a foot.

         34 . The grip of  claim 31 , where said hand grip is removable from said elongated member. 
     
     
         35 . The grip of  claim 31 , where the length of said elongated member of said first loop is adjustable by pulling said hand grip away from the exercise device. 
     
     
         36 . The grip of  claim 31 , where said hand grip has one or more passageways therethrough, and where said elongated member passes through at least one of said one or more passageways. 
     
     
         37 . The grip of  claim 31 , where said hand grip includes a hollow tubular portion, and where said elongated member forms a figure-8 which defines a cross-over portion, and where said cross-over portion is within said hollow tubular portion.
