Abstract

The present invention relates to mixed calcium/sodium salt of inositol tripyrophosphate, methods of preparing and methods of use. The mixed calcium/sodium salt may be a monocalcium tetrasodium salt of inositol tripyrophosphate. Methods of use include administering the above salts in an effective amount to treat diseases caused by hypoxia or other conditions associated with inadequate function of the lungs or circulatory system, such as various types of cancer and Alzheimer's disease.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified

5 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 4 , wherein the myo-inositol 1,6:2,3:4,5 tripyrophosphate is prepared at an effective dosage for treating cancer in a subject.

         6 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 5 , wherein the dosage of myo-inositol 1,6:2,3:4,5 tripyrophosphate is between 0.5 and 1.5 g/kg.

         7 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 5 , wherein the dosage of myo-inositol 1,6:2,3:4,5 tripyrophosphate is between 0.9 and 1.1 g/kg.

8 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 5 , wherein the cancer is selected from the group consisting of rhabdomyosarcomas, retinoblastoma, Ewing's sarcoma, neuroblastoma, and osteosarcoma.

9 . The pharmaceutical composition of claim 5 , wherein the cancer is selected from one or more of the group consisting of breast cancer, prostate cancer, renal cell cancer, brain cancer, ovarian cancer, colon cancer, bladder cancer, pancreatic cancer, stomach cancer, esophageal cancer, cutaneous melanoma, liver cancer, lung cancer, testicular cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, cervical cancer, lymphoma, parathyroid cancer, penile cancer, rectal cancer, small intestine cancer, thyroid cancer, uterine cancer, Hodgkin's lymphoma, lip and oral cancer, skin cancer, leukemia, and multiple myeloma.

         10 - 11 . (canceled)

12 . A method of treating cancer comprising administering to an individual a pharmaceutically effective amount of the composition of claim 3 .

13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein the composition is administered to an individual at a dosage of about 0.5 to about 1.5 g/kg.

         14 . (canceled)
