System for wirelessly transmitting venue-based data to remote wireless hand held devices over a wireless network

Abstract

A system for wirelessly transmitting venue-based data in video data packets to remote wireless hand held devices over an 802.11 wireless network. Such a system includes one or more processors for processing video captured by at least one venue-based video camera into data packets for transmission to remote wireless hand held devices, wherein the remote wireless hand held devices each further comprise a display screen for displaying the data and for viewing video while held in the same manner as a personal digital assistant during use, and in a hand of a user and away from a face and head of the user. Such a system additionally includes at least one 802.11 wireless network transmitter for wirelessly transmitting the data packets to the remote wireless hand held devices.

1 . A system for wirelessly transmitting venue-based data in video data packets to remote wireless hand held devices over an 802.11 wireless network, said system comprising:
 at least one processor for processing video captured by at least one venue-based video camera into data packets for transmission to remote wireless hand held devices, wherein said remote wireless hand held devices each further comprise a display screen for displaying said data and for viewing video while held in the same manner as a personal digital assistant during use, and in a hand of a user and away from a face and head of the user; and   at least one 802.11 wireless network transmitter for wirelessly transmitting said data packets to said remote wireless hand held devices.   
     
     
         2 . The system of  claim 1  further comprising:
 at least one security module for encrypting said data prior to wirelessly transmitting said data packets to said remote wireless hand held devices by said at least one 802.11 wireless network transmitter.   
     
     
         3 . The system of  claim 1  further comprising a wireless gateway in communication with said 802.11 wireless network. 
     
     
         4 . The system of  claim 1  further comprising a server in communication with said 802.11 wireless network, said server configured to process said data packets and transmit said data packets to and from said 802.11 wireless network. 
     
     
         5 . The system of  claim 1  further comprising:
 a wireless gateway in communication with said 802.11 wireless network; and   a server in communication with said 802.11 wireless network via said wireless gateway, said server configured to process said data packets and transmit said data packets to and from said 802.11 wireless network.   
     
     
         6 . The system of  claim 1  wherein said at least one venue-based video camera is located within a venue and comprises at least one video camera among a plurality of video cameras located within said venue. 
     
     
         7 . The system of  claim 6  wherein said venue comprises a sports stadium. 
     
     
         8 . The system of  claim 6  wherein said venue comprises a sports arena. 
     
     
         9 . The system of  claim 6  wherein said venue comprises a concert venue. 
     
     
         10 . The system of  claim 6  wherein said venue comprises a racing venue. 
     
     
         11 . The system of  claim 1  wherein each of said remote wireless hand held devices comprises a wireless data transmitter for transmitting data to said 802.11 wireless network. 
     
     
         12 . The system of  claim 1  wherein each of said remote wireless hand held devices comprises a wireless data receiver for receiving data from said 802.11 wireless network, including said data packets. 
     
     
         13 . The system of  claim 1  wherein each of said remote wireless hand held devices comprises a wireless data transmitter/receiver for transmitting and/or receiving data to and from said 802.11 wireless network, including said data packets. 
     
     
         14 . A system for wirelessly transmitting venue-based data in video data packets to remote wireless hand held devices over an 802.11 wireless network, said system comprising:
 at least one processor for processing video captured by at least one venue-based video camera into data packets for transmission to remote wireless hand held devices, wherein said remote wireless hand held devices each further comprise a display screen for displaying said data and for viewing video while held in the same manner as a personal digital assistant during use, and in a hand of a user and away from a face and head of the user;   at least one 802.11 wireless network transmitter for wirelessly transmitting said data packets to said remote wireless hand held devices; and   at least one security module for encrypting said data prior to wirelessly transmitting said data packets to said remote wireless hand held devices by said at least one 802.11 wireless network transmitter.   
     
     
         15 . The system of  claim 14  further comprising:
 a wireless gateway in communication with said 802.11 wireless network; and   a server in communication with said 802.11 wireless network via said wireless gateway, said server configured to process said data packets and transmit said data packets to and from said 802.11 wireless network.   
     
     
         16 . The system of  claim 14  wherein said at least one venue-based video camera is located within a venue and comprises at least one video camera among a plurality of video cameras located within said venue. 
     
     
         17 . The system of  claim 16  wherein each of said remote wireless hand held devices comprises a wireless data transmitter for transmitting data to said 802.11 wireless network. 
     
     
         18 . The system of  claim 16  wherein each of said remote wireless hand held devices comprises a wireless data receiver for receiving data from said 802.11 wireless network, including said data packets. 
     
     
         19 . The system of  claim 16  wherein each of said remote wireless hand held devices comprises a wireless data transmitter/receiver for transmitting and/or receiving data to and from said 802.11 wireless network, including said data packets. 
     
     
         20 . A system for wirelessly transmitting venue-based data in video data packets to remote wireless hand held devices over an 802.11 wireless network, said system comprising:
 at least one processor for processing video captured by at least one venue-based video camera into data packets for transmission to remote wireless hand held devices, wherein said remote wireless hand held devices each further comprise a display screen for displaying said data and for viewing video while held in the same manner as a personal digital assistant during use, and in a hand of a user and away from a face and head of the user;   at least one 802.11 wireless network transmitter for wirelessly transmitting said data packets to said remote wireless hand held devices;   at least one security module for encrypting said data prior to wirelessly transmitting said data packets to said remote wireless hand held devices by said at least one 802.11 wireless network transmitter;   a wireless gateway in communication with said 802.11 wireless network; and   a server in communication with said 802.11 wireless network via said wireless gateway, said server configured to process said data packets and transmit said data packets to and from said 802.11 wireless network, said at least one venue-based video camera located within a venue and comprising at least one video camera among a plurality of video cameras located within said venue.   
     
     
         21 . The system of  claim 20  wherein each of said remote wireless hand held devices comprises a wireless data transmitter for transmitting data to said 802.11 wireless network. 
     
     
         22 . The system of  claim 20  wherein each of said remote wireless hand held devices comprises a wireless data receiver for receiving data from said 802.11 wireless network, including said data packets. 
     
     
         23 . The system of  claim 20  wherein each of said remote wireless hand held devices comprises a wireless data transmitter/receiver for transmitting and/or receiving data to and from said 802.11 wireless network, including said data packets.
