Abstract

A drop terminal mounting system includes a fiber drop terminal having a housing and a base attached to the housing. The housing includes an outer surface containing a plurality of receptacles and cooperatively defines an inner cavity with the base. The drop terminal mounting system further includes a bracket having a first fastening region and a second fastening region adapted to secure the drop terminal to the bracket.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A drop terminal comprising:
 an enclosure including:
 a housing;
 a base attached to the back side of the housing, the base and the housing defining an interior cavity, wherein the base and the housing are sealed;
   a plurality of ruggedized receptacles sealingly engaged to the enclosure, each of the receptacles having a first side and a second side, the first side being accessible from an exterior of the enclosure, the second side being accessible from the interior cavity, the plurality of ruggedized receptacles including:
 a first receptacle adapted to receive a fiber optic connector that is connected to a single optical fiber; and
 a second receptacle adapted to receive a multi-fiber connector.

         2 . The drop terminal of claim 1 , wherein a weather-tight seal is disposed between the base and the housing.

         3 . The drop terminal of claim 2 , wherein the weather-tight seal is disposed in a channel defined by the base.

         4 . The drop terminal of claim 3 , where in the channel is disposed proximate to a perimeter of the base.

         5 . The drop terminal of claim 1 , wherein an o-ring is disposed at an interface between the enclosure and the plurality of ruggedized receptacles.

         6 . The drop terminal of claim 1 , wherein the first side of each of the plurality of ruggedized receptacles includes a radial seal adapted to seal an interface between the receptacle and the corresponding connector.

         7 . The drop terminal of claim 1 , wherein the housing includes a first stepped face and a second stepped face.

         8 . A drop terminal comprising:
 an enclosure including:
 a housing having a front surface;
 a base sealingly engaged to the housing, the base and the housing defining an interior cavity;
   a plurality of ruggedized receptacles sealingly engaged to the front surface of the housing, each of the receptacles having a first side and a second side, the first side being accessible from an exterior of the enclosure, the second side being accessible from the interior cavity, the plurality of ruggedized receptacles including:
 a first receptacle adapted to receive a fiber optic connector that is connected to a single optical fiber;
 a second receptacle adapted to receive a multi-fiber connector;
   a fiber group disposed in the interior cavity, the fiber group including a plurality of connectors engaged with the second sides of the plurality of ruggedized receptacles.

         9 . The drop terminal of claim 8 , further comprising a break-out device disposed in the interior cavity of the enclosure.

         10 . The drop terminal of claim 8 , wherein the front surface of the housing includes a first stepped face and a second stepped face.

         11 . The drop terminal of claim 8 , wherein a weatherproof seal is disposed between the base and the housing.

         12 . The drop terminal of claim 11 , wherein the weatherproof seal is disposed in a channel defined by the base.

         13 . The drop terminal of claim 12 , where in the channel is disposed proximate to a perimeter of the base.

         14 . The drop terminal of claim 8 , wherein an o-ring is disposed at an interface between the enclosure and the plurality of ruggedized receptacles.

         15 . The drop terminal of claim 8 , wherein the first side of each of the plurality of ruggedized receptacles includes a radial seal adapted to seal an interface between the receptacle and the corresponding connector.

         16 . A drop terminal comprising:
 an enclosure including:
 a housing having a front side and a back side;
 a base engaged to the back side of the housing, the base and the housing defining an interior cavity;
 a weatherproof seal disposed between the housing and the base;
   a plurality of ruggedized receptacles sealingly engaged to the front side of the housing, each of the receptacles having a first side and a second side, the first side being accessible from an exterior of the enclosure, the second side being accessible from the interior cavity, the plurality of ruggedized receptacles including:
 a first receptacle adapted to receive a fiber optic connector that is connected to a single optical fiber;
 a second receptacle adapted to receive a multi-fiber connector;
   a fiber group disposed in the interior cavity, the fiber group including a plurality of connectors engaged with the second sides of the plurality of ruggedized receptacles.

         17 . The drop terminal of claim 16 , wherein the front surface of the housing includes a first stepped face and a second stepped face.

         18 . The drop terminal of claim 16 , wherein the weatherproof seal is disposed in a channel defined by the base, the channel being disposed proximate to a perimeter of the base.
