Aminosugar, glycosaminoglycan, and s-adenosylmethionine composition for the treatment and repair of connective tissue
Abstract
A composition for the protection, treatment and repair and for reducing the inflammation of connective tissue in mammals and a method for the treatment of connective tissue in mammals by the administration of the composition. The composition includes S-Adenosylmethionine (SAM), and a component selected from an aminosugar or salts thereof (e.g., glucosamine) or glycosaminoglycans (e.g., chondroitin salts) or mixtures or fragments thereof. The composition optionally includes manganese which promotes the production of connective tissue matrix. The composition also optionally includes methyl donors or methyl donor cofactors, such as vitamin B12, vitamin B6, folic acid, dimethylglycine or trimethylglycine.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method of treating or repairing connective tissue in a human or animal, comprising administering S-Adenosylmethionine and an aminosugar to the human or animal,
wherein the S-Adenosylmethionine and aminosugar are present in amounts effective to treat or repair inflammation in connective tissue.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the aminosugar is selected from the group consisting of: glucosamine, glucosamine salts, N-acetylglucosamine and mixtures thereof.
3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising administering manganese or salts thereof.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the S-Adenosylmethioine is administered in an amount of about 2 mg to about 20,000 mg.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the aminosugar is administered in an amount of about 50 mg to about 40,000 mg.
6 . A method of reducing inflammation in connective tissue of a human or animal, comprising administering S-Adenosylmethionine and an aminosugar to the human or animal,
wherein the S-Adenosylmethionine and aminosugar are present in amounts effective to reduce inflammation in connective tissue.
7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the aminosugar is selected from the group consisting of: glucosamine, glucosamine salts, N-acetylglucosamine and mixtures thereof.
8 . The method of claim 6 , further comprising administering manganese or salts thereof.
9 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the S-Adenosylmethioine is administered in an amount of about 2 mg to about 20,000 mg.
10 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the aminosugar is administered in an amount of about 50 mg to about 40,000 mg.
11 . A method of stimulating collagen and/or proteoglycan synthesis in a human or animal, comprising administering S-Adenosylmethionine and an aminosugar to the human or animal,
wherein the S-Adenosylmethionine and aminosugar are present in amounts effective to stimulating collagen and/or proteoglycan synthesis.
12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the aminosugar is selected from the group consisting of: glucosamine, glucosamine salts, N-acetylglucosamine and mixtures thereof.
13 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising administering manganese or salts thereof.
14 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the S-Adenosylmethioine is administered in an amount of about 2 mg to about 20,000 mg.
15 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the aminosugar is administered in an amount of about 50 mg to about 40,000 mg.Cited by (0)
