Golf putter with striking bar

Abstract

An improved golf putter has a striking bar extending perpendicularly from the putter face to terminate at a striking surface spaced forwardly from the putter face a distance. The striking bar extends continuously from a location proximate to one putter face side edge across the putter face to a location proximate the other side edge.

1 . A golf putter, comprising:
 a putter head having a front portion, with the putter head front portion having a putter face;   a striking bar extending perpendicularly from the putter face to terminate at a striking surface spaced forwardly from the putter face a distance; and   with the striking bar extending continuously from a location proximate to one side edge across the putter face to a location proximate the other side edge.   
     
     
         2 . The golf putter of  claim 1  with the putter face being a continuous planar surface. 
     
     
         3 . The golf putter of  claim 1  with the putter face having a perimeter edge composed of a top edge, a bottom edge and two side edges adapted and arranged to make a continuous perimeter edge about the putter face. 
     
     
         4 . The golf putter of  claim 2  with the putter face having a perimeter edge composed of a top edge, a bottom edge and two side edges adapted and arranged to make a continuous perimeter edge about the putter face. 
     
     
         5 . The golf putter of  claim 4  with:
 the top edge of the putter face having opposite ends, one end joined to a top portion of one of the side edges, and the other end joined to a top portion of the other side edge; and 
 the bottom edge of the putter face having opposite ends, one end joined to a bottom portion of one of the side edges, and the other end joined to a bottom portion of the other side edge. 
 
     
     
         6 . The golf putter of  claim 1  with the striking bar cast into the putter head front portion, with the putter head front portion, the putter face and the striking bar all formed in a single piece casting. 
     
     
         7 . The golf putter of  claim 5  with the striking bar cast into the putter head front portion, with the putter head front portion, the putter face and the striking bar all formed in a single piece casting. 
     
     
         8 . The golf putter of  claim 1  with the striking bar having the form of a partial rectangular prism, with a planar top, planar bottom and planar ends all joined at right angles and being perpendicular to the putter face; and
 the striking surface being on a semi-cylindrical mass formed at a front of the striking bar to present a rounded striking surface at the front of the striking bar located a distance from the putter face. 
 
     
     
         9 . The golf putter of  claim 7  with the striking bar having the form of a partial rectangular prism, with a planar top, planar bottom and planar ends all joined at right angles and being perpendicular to the putter face; and
 the striking surface being on a semi-cylindrical mass formed at a front of the striking bar to present a rounded striking surface at the front of the striking bar located a distance from the putter face. 
 
     
     
         10 . The golf putter of  claim 9  with one of the striking bar planar ends being located proximate to one of the side edges of the putter face, and the other striking bar planar end being located proximate the other side edge of the putter face. 
     
     
         11 . A golf putter, comprising:
 a putter head having a front portion, with the putter head front portion having a putter face, the putter face being a continuous planar surface, and the putter face having a perimeter edge composed of a top edge, a bottom edge and two side edges adapted and arranged to make a continuous perimeter edge about the putter face;   the top edge of the putter face having opposite ends, one end joined to a top portion of one of the side edges, and the other end joined to a top portion of the other side edge;   the bottom edge of the putter face having opposite ends, one end joined to a bottom portion of one of the side edges, and the other end joined to a bottom portion of the other side edge;   a striking bar cast into the putter head front portion, with the putter head front portion, the putter face and the striking bar all formed in a single piece casting;   the striking bar extending perpendicularly from the putter face to terminate at a striking surface spaced forwardly from the putter face a distance;   the striking bar having the form of a partial rectangular prism, with a planar top, planar bottom and planar ends all joined at right angles and being perpendicular to the putter face;   the striking surface being on a semi-cylindrical mass formed at a front of the striking bar to present a rounded striking surface at the front of the striking bar located a distance from the putter face; and   one of the striking bar planar ends being located flush with one of the side edges of the putter face, and the other striking bar planar end being located flush with the other side edge of the putter face, with the striking bar extending continuously from the location flush with one side edge across the putter face to the location flush with the other side edge.   
     
     
         12 . The golf putter of  claim 1  with a distance of the striking surface forwardly from the putter face being about 3/16 of an inch. 
     
     
         13 . The golf putter of  claim 11  with the distance of the striking surface forwardly from the putter face being about 0.100 of an inch. 
     
     
         14 . The golf putter of  claim 1  with the striking bar having a vertical thickness of about 1/16 of an inch. 
     
     
         15 . The golf putter of  claim 11  with the vertical distance between the top and bottom of the striking bar establishing a vertical thickness of about 1/16 of an inch. 
     
     
         16 . The golf putter of  claim 1  with:
 the putter face having a two side edges and the striker bar having planar ends; and 
 one of the striking bar planar ends being located flush with one of the side edges of the putter face, and the other striking bar planar end being located flush with the other side edge of the putter face, with the striking bar extending continuously from the location flush with one side edge across the putter face to the location flush with the other side edge. 
 
     
     
         17 . The golf putter of  claim 2  with:
 the putter face having a two side edges and the striker bar having planar ends; and 
 one of the striking bar planar ends being located flush with one of the side edges of the putter face, and the other striking bar planar end being located flush with the other side edge of the putter face, with the striking bar extending continuously from the location flush with one side edge across the putter face to the location flush with the other side edge. 
 
     
     
         18 . The golf putter of  claim 6  with:
 the putter face having a two side edges and the striker bar having planar ends; and 
 one of the striking bar planar ends being located flush with one of the side edges of the putter face, and the other striking bar planar end being located flush with the other side edge of the putter face, with the striking bar extending continuously from the location flush with one side edge across the putter face to the location flush with the other side edge. 
 
     
     
         19 . The golf putter of  claim 8  with:
 the putter face having a two side edges and the striker bar having planar ends; and 
 one of the striking bar planar ends being located flush with one of the side edges of the putter face, and the other striking bar planar end being located flush with the other side edge of the putter face, with the striking bar extending continuously from the location flush with one side edge across the putter face to the location flush with the other side edge. 
 
     
     
         20 . A golf putter, comprising:
 a putter head having a front portion, with the putter head front portion having a putter face, the putter face being a continuous planar surface, and the putter face having a perimeter edge composed of a top edge, a bottom edge and two side edges adapted and arranged to make a continuous perimeter edge about the putter face;   the top edge of the putter face having opposite ends, one end joined to a top portion of one of the side edges, and the other end joined to a top portion of the other side edge;   the bottom edge of the putter face having opposite ends, one end joined to a bottom portion of one of the side edges, and the other end joined to a bottom portion of the other side edge;   a striking bar cast into the putter head front portion, with the putter head front portion, the putter face and the striking bar all formed in a single piece casting;   the striking bar extending perpendicularly from the putter face to terminate at a striking surface spaced forwardly from the putter face a distance;   the striking bar having the form of a partial rectangular prism, with a planar top, planar bottom and planar ends all joined at right angles and being perpendicular to the putter face;   the striking surface being on a semi-cylindrical mass formed at a front of the striking bar to present a rounded striking surface at the front of the striking bar located a distance from the putter face;   one of the striking bar planar ends being located flush with one of the side edges of the putter face, and the other striking bar planar end being located flush with the other side edge of the putter face, with the striking bar extending continuously from the location flush with one side edge across the putter face to the location flush with the other side edge;   with the distance of the striking surface forwardly from the putter face being about 0.100 of an inch; and   with the vertical distance between the top and bottom of the striking bar establishing a vertical thickness of about 1/16 of an inch.
