Abstract

This invention relates to a method for adjusting a graphical user interface for at least two displays, wherein due to an activation of at least one of at least two displays the graphical user interface is informed about the characteristics of said at least one activated display whereby the graphical user interface is refreshed according to said characteristics. This invention also relates to a display system, to a device, to a graphical user interface and to a computer program product.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method comprising:
displaying graphical user interface content on a display of an electronic device; activating an other display; in response to activation of the other display, displaying a changed layout of the graphical user interface content on the other display, wherein the changed layout is based on a characteristic of the other display.

2 . The method of claim 1 , where the characteristic of the other display relates to at least one of the following: size, shape, presentation capabilities, interaction capabilities.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the display and the other display are comprised within a single electronic device.

4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising deactivating the display in response to the activation of the other display.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the characteristic of the other display relates to at least one of the following: display resolution, form factor.

6 . An apparatus comprising a display, a memory, and a processor wherein the memory comprises computer readable instructions that when executed by the processor cause the apparatus to:
display graphical user interface content on the display; activate an other display; in response to activation of the other display, display a changed layout of the graphical user interface content on the other display, wherein the changed layout is based on a characteristic of the other display.

7 . The apparatus of claim 6 , where the characteristic of the other display relates to at least one of the following: size, shape, presentation capabilities, interaction capabilities.

8 . The apparatus of claim 6 , further comprising the other display.

9 . The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the memory further comprises computer readable instructions that when executed by the processor cause the apparatus to deactivate the display in response to the activation of the other display.

10 . The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the characteristic of the other display relates to at least one of the following: display resolution, form factor.

11 . The apparatus of claim 6 , wherein the changed layout is further based on a type of user interface application, changing size of a column, changing number of columns, object placement, or to filling of empty space.

12 . The apparatus of claim 11 , wherein the filling of empty space relates to adding an image, status information, or to shortcuts.

13 . A non-transitory memory comprising computer readable instructions that when executed by a processor perform the method of claim 1 .

14 . The non-transitory memory of claim 13 , where the characteristic of the other display relates to at least one of the following: size, shape, presentation capabilities, interaction capabilities.

15 . The non-transitory memory of claim 13 , wherein the display and the other display are comprised within a single electronic device.

16 . The non-transitory memory of claim 13 , wherein the memory further comprises computer readable instructions that when executed by a processor perform deactivating the display in response to the activation of the other display.

17 . The non-transitory memory of claim 13 , wherein the characteristic of the other display relates to at least one of the following: display resolution, form factor.

18 . The non-transitory memory of claim 13 , wherein the changed layout is further based on a type of user interface application.

19 . The non-transitory memory of claim 13 , wherein the changed layout relates to changing size of a column, changing number of columns, object placement, or to filling of empty space.

20 . The non-transitory memory of claim 19 , wherein the filling of empty space relates to adding an image, status information, or to shortcuts.
