Abstract
Compositions and methods for use in the prevention or treatment of excess weight in a mammal have been developed. The compositions comprise oxyntomodulin which is shown to reduce food intake.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A composition comprising oxyntomodulin, for use in the prevention or treatment of excess weight in a mammal.
. A composition comprising oxyntomodulin, for use as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the excess weight is obesity.
. A composition comprising oxyntomodulin, for use as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 , in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.
. A composition comprising oxyntomodulin, for use as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 3 , in liquid, solid or semi-solid form.
. A composition comprising oxyntomodulin, for use as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 4 , wherein the mammal is a human.
. A method for the prevention or treatment of excess weight in a mammal, the method comprising administering a composition comprising oxyntomodulin to a mammal.
. A method, as claimed in claim 6 , wherein the excess weight is obesity.
. A method for cosmetic weight loss in a mammal, the method comprising administering a composition comprising oxyntomodulin to a mammal.
. A method, as claimed in any one of claims 6 to 8 , wherein the composition comprises oxyntomodulin and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient or carrier.
. A method, as claimed in any of claims 6 to 9 , wherein the weight loss is a result of reduced food intake.
. Use of oxyntomodulin, in the manufacture of a medicament for the prevention or treatment of excess weight.
. The use of oxyntomodulin to identify an agent which inhibits food intake in a mammal.
. The use, as claimed in claim 12 , which is of the functional and/or structural characteristics of oxyntomodulin.
. The use, as claimed in claim 12 or claim 13 , which is of an electronically generated model of oxyntomodulin.
. The use, as claimed in any one of claims 12 to 14 , wherein the characteristic of oxyntomodulin is its primary, secondary, tertiary structure pharmacophore and/or X-ray crystal structure.
. A composition comprising oxyntomodulin, for use in the prevention or treatment of excess weight in a mammal as hereinbefore described in the examples.
. A method for the prevention or treatment of excess weight in a mammal, the method as described with reference to the examples.Cited by (0)
