Abstract

The present invention provides compositions comprising an anti-angiogenic factor, and a polymeric carrier. Representative examples of anti-angiogenic factors include Anti-Invasive Factor, Retinoic acids and derivatives thereof, and taxol. Also provided are methods for embolizing blood vessels, and eliminating biliary, urethral, esophageal, and tracheal/bronchial obstructions.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
- 35 . (canceled)

. A vascular stent for delivering a compound to a site of an angioplasty in a blood vessel,
wherein the vascular stent comprises a composition capable of releasing the compound into a tissue surrounding the vascular stent, and wherein the composition comprises paclitaxel.

. The stent of claim 36 , further comprising a polymeric carrier.

. The stent of claim 37 , wherein the polymeric carrier comprises a biodegradable polymer.

. The stent of claim 37 , wherein the polymeric carrier comprises poly(d,l-lactide-co-glycolide).

. The stent of any one of claims 36 - 39 , wherein the stent is a coronary stent.

. A vascular stent for delivering a compound to a site of an angioplasty in a blood vessel,
wherein the vascular stent comprises a composition capable of releasing the compound into a tissue surrounding the vascular stent, and wherein the composition comprises paclitaxel or an analog thereof.

. The stent of claim 41 , wherein the stent is a coronary stent.

. The stent of claim 42 , further comprising a polymeric carrier.

. The stent of claim 43 , wherein the polymeric carrier comprises a biodegradable polymer.

. A coronary stent, wherein the coronary stent comprises a polymer and paclitaxel.

. The coronary stent of claim 45 wherein the stent is balloon expandable.

. The coronary stent of claim 45 wherein the polymer is biodegradable.

. The coronary stent of claim 45 wherein the polymer is poly(d,l-lactide-co-glycolide).

. A coronary stent comprising a polymer and paclitaxel or an analog thereof.

. The coronary stent of claim 49 wherein the polymer is poly(d,l-lactide-co-glycolide).

. A stent comprising a generally tubular structure and a composition comprising paclitaxel, where the composition adheres to the structure during storage.

. The stent of claim 51 wherein the composition comprises a biodegradable polymer.

. The stent of claim 51 which is a coronary stent for preventing a narrowing of a coronary artery.

. In a stent, wherein the improvement comprises the stent comprising paclitaxel.

. The stent of claim 54 wherein the stent further comprises a polymeric carrier.

. The stent of claim 55 wherein the polymeric carrier is biodegradable.

. The stent of claim 55 wherein the polymeric carrier comprises poly(d,l-lactide-co-glycolide).

. The stent of any one of claims 54 - 57 wherein the stent is a vascular stent.

. In a stent, wherein the improvement comprises the stent comprising paclitaxel or an analog thereof, and a polymeric carrier.

. The stent of claim 59 wherein the polymeric carrier is biodegradable.

. The stent of claim 59 wherein the polymeric carrier is poly(d,l-lactide-co-glycolide).

. The stent of any one of claims 59 - 61 wherein the stent is a vascular stent.

. A stent comprising a generally tubular structure coated with a composition comprising a polymeric carrier and paclitaxel.
