Abstract

A device, system, and method are directed towards determining a suggested characteristic for an event. At least two events are determined. In one embodiment, at least one characteristic is determined for one of the event. A plurality of other characteristics is determined for the other event. The characteristics of the two events may be determined implicitly from communications during the events or from user input. Based on a relationship between the determined characteristics, the suggested characteristic for the event is then determined. In one embodiment, the relationship is defined as a match of characteristics. The event may then be modified based on the suggested characteristic. For example, a suggested member may be invited to join the event, or the event's time, location, or name may be changed. If the other event is current or pending, the event and the other event may be combined.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A network device to manage a communication over a network, comprising:
 a transceiver to send and receive data over the network; and a processor that is operative to perform actions, comprising:
 determining at least one characteristic for each of a first event and a second event, each event being associated with a social gathering of people;
 determining a match between at least one characteristic of the first event and the second event; and
 sending a suggestion to at least one member in one of the first event or the second event to combine the first event with the second event based on a suggested event characteristic of at least one of the first event or the second event, when the first event is determined to occur concurrent with or after the second event.

         2 . The network device of claim 1 , wherein the processor is operative to perform actions, further comprising:
 sending a message to a plurality of members in at least the first event or the second event requesting at least one of a confirmation to modify the events.

         3 . The network device of claim 1 , wherein the suggested event characteristic includes at least one of a suggested member, an event time, an event location, or an event name.

         4 . The network device of claim 1 , wherein combining the first event with the second event further comprises at least one of combining a location of the events.

         5 . The network device of claim 1 , wherein at least one characteristic for each event further includes at least one of a start time, an end time, a location, or an event name.

         6 . The network device of claim 1 , wherein combining the events further comprises sending an invite to at least one member of the first event or the second event to join the other of the second event or the first event.

         7 . The network device of claim 1 , wherein determining at least one characteristic further comprises determining one of a start time associated with each event, in part, based on a communications between members of the associated event.

         8 . The network device of claim 1 , wherein the suggested event characteristic further comprises a plurality of suggested event characteristics that are rank ordered based in part on a number of matching characteristics between the first and the second events.

         9 . A client device for managing a communication over a network, comprising:
 a memory storage device for storing information about a plurality of events related to a gathering of people; and a processor operable to perform actions comprising:
 determining at least one characteristic for each of a first event and a second event, each of which are associated with a social gathering of people;
 determining a match between at least one characteristic of the first event and the second event; and
 displaying at the client device a suggestion to combine at least one characteristic of the first event with the second event based on a suggested characteristic of at least one of the first event or the second event, when the first event is determined to occur concurrent with or after the second event.

         10 . The client device of claim 9 , wherein the processor is operable to perform actions, further comprising:
 sending a message to a plurality of members in at least the first event or the second event requesting at least one of a confirmation to combine.

         11 . The client device of claim 9 , wherein the suggested event characteristic includes at least one of a suggested member, an event time, an event location, or an event name.

         12 . The client device of claim 9 , wherein combining the first event with the second event further comprises at least one of combining a location of the events.

         13 . The client device of claim 9 , wherein at least one characteristic for each event further includes at least one of a start time, an end time, a location, or an event name.

         14 . The client device of claim 9 , wherein combining the events further comprises sending an invite to at least one member of the first event or the second event to join the other of the second event or the first event.

         15 . The client device of claim 9 , wherein determining at least one characteristic further comprises determining one of a start time associated with each event, in part, based on a communications between members of the associated event.

         16 . A method for managing a communication over a network, comprising:
 determining at least one characteristic for each of a first event and a second event, each of which are associated with a social gathering of people; determining a match between at least one characteristic of the first event and the second event; and displaying at a client device a suggestion to at least one member in one of the first event or the second event to combine the first event with the second event based on a suggested characteristic of at least one of the first event or the second event, when the first event is determined to occur concurrent with or after the second event.

         17 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising:
 sending a message to a plurality of members in at least the first event or the second event requesting at least one of a confirmation to modify the events; and based on a result of the confirmation, combining the first event with the second event.

         18 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the suggested event characteristic includes at least one of a suggested member, an event time, an event location, or an event name.

         19 . The method of claim 16 , wherein combining the first event with the second event further comprises at least one of combining a location of the events.

         20 . The method of claim 16 , wherein determining at least one characteristic further comprises determining one of a start time associated with each event, in part, based on a communications between members of the associated event.
