Abstract
A liquid crystal display (LCD) includes a bottom substrate having a top surface; a sealant located on the top surface of the bottom substrate, wherein the sealant has a pre-curing temperature; a liquid crystal mixture including a liquid crystal material and at least one reactive monomer located on the top surface of the bottom substrate and surrounded by the sealant, the at least one reactive monomer having a melting point higher than 120° C., wherein the melting point of the reactive monomer is higher than the pre-curing temperature of the sealant; at least one polymer layer polymerized from the reactive monomer, located between the bottom substrate and the liquid crystal material; and a top substrate covering the sealant and the bottom substrate to seal the liquid crystal mixture and the at least one polymer layer.

a bottom substrate having a top surface; a sealant located on the top surface of the bottom substrate, wherein the sealant has a pre-curing temperature; a liquid crystal mixture comprising a vertical alignment liquid crystal material and at least one reactive monomer being located on the top surface of the bottom substrate and surrounded by the sealant, the at least one reactive monomer having a melting point higher than 120° C., wherein the melting point of the reactive monomer is higher than the pre-curing temperature of the sealant, wherein the reactive monomer comprises a compound of formula (1),
at least one polymer layer polymerized from the reactive monomer, being located between the bottom substrate and the vertical alignment liquid crystal material; and
a top substrate covering the sealant and the bottom substrate to seal the liquid crystal mixture and the at least one polymer layer.
2 . The liquid crystal display of claim 1 , wherein the sealant is a UV curing sealant.
3 . The liquid crystal display of claim 1 , wherein the pre-curing temperature of the sealant is lower than 120° C.
4 . The liquid crystal display of claim 1 , wherein the sealant is procured by a pre-curing process at the pre-curing temperature.
5 . The liquid crystal display of claim 4 , wherein the pre-curing process is performed by a lighting method.
6 . The liquid crystal display of claim 1 , wherein the sealant has a curing temperature in a range from 120° C. to 125° C.
7 . The liquid crystal display of claim 1 , wherein the melting point of the reactive monomer is in a range from 150° C. to 160° C.
8 . The liquid crystal display of claim 1 , wherein the polymer layer is polymerized by an active curing process.
9 . The liquid crystal display of claim 8 , wherein the active curing process comprises a polymer stability alignment (PSA) process.
10 . The liquid crystal display of claim 8 , wherein the active curing process is performed by a lighting method or a heating method.
11 . The liquid crystal display of claim 1 , wherein the polymer layer is polymerized under an active curing temperature.
12 . A liquid crystal display (LCD), comprising:
a bottom substrate having a top surface; a sealant located on the top surface of the bottom substrate, wherein the sealant has a pre-curing temperature; a liquid crystal mixture comprising a liquid crystal material and at least one reactive monomer being located on the top surface of the bottom substrate and surrounded by the sealant, the at least one reactive monomer having a melting point higher than 120° C., wherein the melting point of the reactive monomer is higher than the pre-curing temperature of the sealant; at least one polymer layer polymerized from the reactive monomer, being located between the bottom substrate and the liquid crystal material; and a top substrate covering the sealant and the bottom substrate to seal the liquid crystal mixture and the at least one polymer layer.
13 . The liquid crystal display of claim 12 , wherein the sealant is a UV curing sealant.
14 . The liquid crystal display of claim 12 , wherein the pre-curing temperature of the sealant is lower than 120° C.
15 . The liquid crystal display of claim 12 , wherein the sealant has a curing temperature in a range from 120° C. to 125° C.
16 . The liquid crystal display of claim 12 , wherein the liquid crystal material comprises a vertical alignment liquid crystal material.
17 . The liquid crystal display of claim 12 , wherein the melting point of the reactive monomer is in a range from 150° C. to 160° C.
18 . The liquid crystal display of claim 12 , wherein the reactive monomer is a photo-polymerizable reactive monomer or a thermal-polymerizable reactive monomer.
