Abstract

The invention is also directed to a device for treating an aneurysm which has a cover covering the neck of the aneurysm and a lateral portion extending into the aneurysm. The invention is also directed to a cover which is used to cover the neck of the aneurysm thereby isolating the aneurysm from the parental vessel.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 58 . (canceled)

59 . A method of treating an aneurysm, comprising the steps of:
providing a device having a plurality of filaments extending from a first hub, the plurality of filaments being movable from a collapsed position to an expanded position, the filaments being biased toward the expanded position; introducing the device into an aneursym with the plurality of filaments in the collapsed position; expanding the filaments after the introducing step so that the filament occupy space in the aneurysm and form a mesh which contacts the wall of the aneurysm; releasing the device so that the device remains within the aneurysm with the mesh in contact with the wall of the aneurysm.

         60 . The method of claim 59 , wherein:
the providing step is carried out with the device having a second hub, the plurality of filaments extending between the first and second hubs, the first and second hubs moving toward one another when the plurality of filaments move to the expanded position.

         61 . The method of claim 59 , wherein:
the expanding step is carried out with the plurality of filaments expanding radially outward from the first hub.

         62 . The method of claim 59 , wherein:
the expanding step is carried out with the plurality of filaments forming a mesh which expanding into contact with the aneurysm.
