Abstract
A cardiac lead comprising a lead body extending from a proximal end portion to a distal end portion; a cardiac electrode disposed along the lead body; and a coating associated with at least a portion of the electrode, wherein the coating comprises a conductive polymer.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A cardiac lead comprising:
a lead body extending from a proximal end to a distal end; at least one conductor extending within the lead body; at least one electrode disposed along the lead body and operatively coupled to the at least one conductor; and a coating disposed over and in contact with at least a portion of the at least one electrode, the coating comprising a polymer matrix layer comprising a conductive polymer having alternating single and double bonds and at least one therapeutic agent.
2 . The cardiac lead of claim 1 , wherein the at least one therapeutic agent is admixed with the conductive polymer of the polymer matrix layer.
3 . The cardiac lead of claim 1 , wherein the at least one therapeutic agent is disposed over the polymer matrix layer.
4 . The cardiac lead of claim 1 , wherein the at least one therapeutic agent is disposed under the polymer matrix layer between the electrode and the polymer matrix layer.
5 . The cardiac lead of claim 1 , wherein the conductive polymer comprises a doping material.
6 . The cardiac lead of claim 1 , wherein the conductive polymer is selected from the group consisting of poly(acetylene)s, poly(pyrrole)s, poly(thiophene)s, poly(aniline)s, and poly(para-phenylene vinylene)s.
7 . The cardiac lead of claim 1 , wherein the conductive polymer comprises polypyrrole polystyrene sulfonate.
8 . The cardiac lead of claim 1 , wherein the conductive polymer comprises poly(3,4-ethylenedioxy thiophene)polystyrene sulfonate.
9 . The cardiac lead of claim 1 , wherein the conductive polymer comprises a poly(pyrrole).
10 . The cardiac lead of claim 1 , wherein the conductive polymer comprises a poly(thiophene).
11 . The cardiac lead of claim 1 , wherein the coating further comprises a topcoat layer disposed over the polymer matrix layer.
12 . The cardiac lead of claim 11 , wherein the topcoat layer comprises any one of phosphorylcholine (PC), polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), hyaluronic acid (HA), polyactive or combinations thereof.
13 . The cardiac lead of claim 1 , wherein the therapeutic agent comprises an anti-inflammatory agent, anti-proliferative agent, anti-arrhythmic agent, anti-migratory agent, anti-neoplastic agent, antibiotic agent, anti-restenotic agent, anti-coagulation agent, anti-clotting agent, anti-thrombogenic agent, immunosuppressive agent, steroid or a combination thereof.
14 . The lead of claim 1 , wherein the therapeutic agent comprises paclitaxel, clobetasol, rapamycin, everolimus, tacrolimus, actinomycin-D, dexamethasone, vitamin E, mycophenolic acid, cyclosporin, beclomethasone or a combination thereof.
15 . The cardiac lead of claim 1 , wherein the therapeutic agent comprises a combination of an anti-inflammatory agent and an anti-proliferative agent.
16 . The cardiac lead of claim 1 , wherein the therapeutic agent comprises a combination of dexamethasone and everolimus.
17 . The cardiac lead of claim 1 , wherein the therapeutic agent comprises a combination of dexamethasone and paclitaxel.
18 . The cardiac lead of claim 1 , wherein the therapeutic agent comprises a combination of clobetasol and paclitaxel.
19 . The cardiac lead of claim 1 , wherein the therapeutic agent comprises a combination of dexamethasone and sirolimus.
20 . The cardiac lead of claim 1 , wherein the therapeutic agent comprises an anti-inflammatory agent.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
