Abstract
A single or multi-bowl wellhead may be positioned in a diverter housing over the wellbore. An overshot running tool protects the wellhead during placement and certain operations. Protrusions on the wellhead may be installed after the diverter housing is removed.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A running tool for positioning a wellhead, comprising:
a cylindrical body having a bottom, a first thickness, an inside diameter, and an exterior surface; a cylindrical collar having a length, an inside diameter, and an interior surface; and wherein said collar inside diameter is attached to and extends around a portion of said body exterior surface.
2 . The running tool of claim 1 , wherein said collar comprises a thread on said collar interior surface.
3 . The running tool of claim 1 , wherein said collar comprises a seal for sealing said collar interior surface.
4 . The running tool of claim 1 , wherein said body having a second thickness different than said body first thickness.
5 . The running tool of claim 1 , further comprising:
a cylindrical extension having a top and an inside diameter, wherein said extension is coupled with said body.
6 . The running tool of claim 5 , wherein said extension top is threadably coupled with said body bottom.
7 . The running tool of claim 6 , wherein said extension inside diameter is substantially the same as said body inside diameter.
8 . The running tool of claim 5 , wherein said collar comprises a thread on said collar interior surface.
9 . A method of use of a running tool used with a wellbore, comprising the steps of:
coupling a running tool tubular with a running tool, wherein said running tool having an interior surface comprising a thread; coupling a wellhead tubular with a wellhead, wherein said wellhead has an exterior surface comprising a thread; coupling said wellhead exterior surface thread with said running tool interior surface thread; moving said wellhead into a housing positioned with the wellbore; and positioning said wellhead with the wellbore.
10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein said wellhead has a longitudinal bore with an interior surface and said running tool has a longitudinal bore, and further comprising the step of moving a fluid through said wellhead longitudinal bore and said running tool longitudinal bore without the fluid communicating with portions of said wellhead longitudinal bore interior surface.
11 . The method of claim 9 , wherein said wellhead having a top with an annular groove, and further comprising the step of covering the annular groove with the running tool.
12 . The method of claim 9 , wherein said housing is a diverter housing.
13 . A running tool for positioning a casing head, comprising:
a cylindrical body having a first thickness and an exterior surface; a cylindrical collar having a length, an inside diameter, and an interior surface; and wherein said collar inside diameter is attached to and extends around a portion of said body exterior surface.
14 . The running tool of claim 13 , wherein said collar comprises a thread on said collar interior surface.
15 . The running tool of claim 13 , wherein said collar comprises a seal for sealing said collar interior surface.
16 . The running tool of claim 13 , wherein said body having a second thickness different than said body first thickness.
17 . The running tool of claim 13 , further comprising:
a cylindrical extension having a top and an inside diameter, wherein said extension is coupled with said body.
18 . A method of use of a running tool used with a wellbore, comprising the steps of:
coupling a running tool tubular with a running tool, wherein said running tool having an interior surface comprising a thread; coupling a wellhead tubular with a casing head, wherein said casing head has an exterior surface comprising a thread; coupling said casing head exterior surface thread with said running tool interior surface thread; moving said casing head into a diverter housing positioned with the wellbore; and positioning said casing head with the wellbore.
19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein said casing head has a longitudinal bore with an interior surface and said running tool has a longitudinal bore, and further comprising the step of moving a fluid through said casing head longitudinal bore and said running tool longitudinal bore without the fluid communicating with portions of said casing head longitudinal bore interior surface.
20 . The method of claim 18 , wherein said casing head having a top with an annular groove, and further comprising the step of covering the annular groove with the running tool.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
