Abstract

Cationic surfactant systems, using microfibrous cellulose to suspend particulates therein, are described. Methods of making these systems are also described.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified

An aqueous composition comprising a cationic surfactant system comprising (i) microfibrous cellulose at a concentration of about 0.05% to about 1.0% (w/w), (ii) at least one cationic surfactant at a concentration of about 0.05% to about 40% (w/w active surfactant), and (iii) a suspended particulate.

19 . The composition of claim 18 , wherein the microfibrous cellulose concentration is about 0.05% to about 0.09%.

20 . The composition of claim 18 , wherein the microfibrous cellulose concentration is about 0.05% to about 0.075%.

21 . The composition of claim 18 , wherein the cationic surfactant concentration is about 0.5% to about 3% (w/w active surfactant).

22 . The composition of claim 18 , wherein the cationic surfactant concentration is about 3% to about 15% (w/w active surfactant).

23 . The composition of claim 18 , wherein the composition is substantially transparent.

24 . The composition of claim 18 , wherein the microfibrous cellulose comprises a microfibrous cellulose blend of microfibrous cellulose, cationic guar, and guar at a ratio of 6:3:1.

25 . The composition of claim 18 , wherein the microfibrous cellulose comprises a microfibrous cellulose blend of microfibrous cellulose and cationic guar at a ratio of 1:1 or 3:2.

26 . The composition of claim 18 , wherein the microfibrous cellulose comprises a microfibrous cellulose blend of microfibrous cellulose and cationic hydroxyethylcellulose at a ratio of 1:1.

27 . An aqueous composition comprising a cationic surfactant system comprising (i) microfibrous cellulose at a concentration of about 0.05% to about 1.0% (w/w), (ii) at least one cationic surfactant at a concentration of about 0.05% to about 40% (w/w active surfactant), and (iii) a suspended particulate, wherein the aqueous composition is prepared by a method comprising the steps of:
combining the microfibrous cellulose with water and mixing with high shear, adding the cationic surfactant and then mixing, and adding the particulate followed by mixing.

28 . The composition of claim 27 , wherein the microfibrous cellulose comprises a dry blend of microfibrous cellulose and one or more co-agents.

29 . The composition of claim 28 , wherein the microfibrous cellulose blend comprises microfibrous cellulose, cationic guar, and guar at a ratio of 6:3:1.

30 . The composition of claim 28 , wherein the microfibrous cellulose blend comprises microfibrous cellulose and cationic guar at a ratio of 1:1 or 3:2.

31 . The composition of claim 28 , wherein the microfibrous cellulose blend comprises microfibrous cellulose and cationic hydroxyethylcellulose at a ratio of 1:1.

32 . The composition of claim 28 , wherein the microfibrous cellulose comprises a wet cake of microfibrous cellulose and the cationic surfactant system is substantially free of co-agents.

33 . Method of preparing an aqueous composition comprising a cationic surfactant system, comprising:
combining microfibrous cellulose with water and mixing with high shear, adding cationic surfactant and then mixing, and adding a particulate followed by mixing, wherein the resulting system is clear and the particulates are suspended therein and wherein the microfibrous cellulose is present at a concentration of about 0.05% to about 0.1% (w/w) and the cationic surfactant is present at a concentration of about 0.05% to about 40% (w/w active surfactant).

34 . The method of claim 33 , wherein the microfibrous cellulose comprises a dry blend of microfibrous cellulose and one or more co-agents.

35 . The method of claim 34 , wherein the microfibrous cellulose blend comprises microfibrous cellulose, cationic guar, and guar at a ratio of 6:3:1.
