Claims

Abstract

The present invention pertains to compositions comprising (a) a polyether polyol, a polyester polyol or a polyurethane, (b) a UV-absorber of formula (I) and/or a hindered amine liaht stabilizer of formula (II) wherein R 1 and R 2 are each independently C 1 -C 4 alkyl or C 1 -C 4 alkyoxy, and (c) at least one further UV-absorber and/or hindered amine light stabilizer if only one of the components (I) and (II) is present with the proviso that component (c) is not a compound of formula (A)-(D) as defined in claim 1.

1 . A composition comprising
 (a) a polyether polyol, a polyester polyol or a polyurethane,   (b) a UV-absorber of formula (I) and/or a hindered amine light stabilizer of formula (II)   
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
       
       wherein R 1  and R 2  are each independently C 1 -C 4 alkyl or C 1 -C 4 alkyoxy, and
 (c) at least one further hindered amine light stabilizer and/or UV-absorber selected from the group consisting of hydroxyphenyl-triazine, benzophenone, oxanilide, acrylate and cyanacrylate classes if only one of the components (I) and (II) is present 
 
       with the proviso that component (c) is not a compound of formula (A)-(D) 
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
       
     
     
         2 .          5 . A composition according to  claim 4 , comprising as further stabilizers antioxidants, light-stabilizers and/or processing stabilizers. 
     
     
         6 . A composition according to  claim 5 , comprising as further stabilizers phenolic and/or aminic antioxidants, hindered amine light stabilizers, UV-absorbers, phosphites, phosphonites and/or benzofuranones. 
     
     
         7 . A composition according to  claim 6 , comprising as further stabilizers hindered amine light stabilizers, UV-absorbers, phenolic antioxidants and/or phosphites. 
     
     
         8 . A composition according to  claim 1 , wherein component (b) is a combination of a UV-absorber of formula (I) and a hindered amine light stabilizer of formula (II). 
     
     
         9 . A composition according to  claim 1 , wherein the UV-absorber of formula (I) is a compound of formula (Ia) 
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
       
     
     
         10 . A composition according to  claim 1 , wherein component (b) is a UV-absorber of formula (I) and component (c) is a hindered amine light stabilizer. 
     
     
         11 . A composition according to  claim 1 , wherein component (b) is a hindered amine light stabilizer of formula (II) and component (c) is a UV-absorber. 
     
     
         12 . A composition according to  claim 1 , wherein the overall amount of component (b) and (c) is 0.01% to 5%, based on the weight of the composition. 
     
     
         13 . A composition according to  claim 1 , wherein the overall amount of component (b) and (c) is 0.5% to 2%, based on the weight of the composition. 
     
     
         14 . A composition according to  claim 1 , wherein the ratio of components (b):(c) or of the compounds of formulae (I):(II) respectively is from 10:1 to 1:10. 
     
     
         15 . A composition according to  claim 1 , wherein the ratio of components (b):(c) or of the compounds of formulae (I):(II) respectively is from 3:1 to 1:3. 
     
     
         16 . A process for stabilizing a polyether polyol, a polyester polyol or a polyurethane against degradation by light, oxygen and/or heat, which process comprises incorporating therein a mixture of components (b) and (c) as defined in  claim 1 . 
     
     
         17 . A process according to  claim 16 , whereby the mixture additionally comprises further additives and/or further stabilizers. 
     
     
         18 . A composition according to  claim 6 , comprising as further stabilizers hindered amine light stabilizers, UV-absorbers, phenolic antioxidants and/or phosphites; the phosphites being selected from the group consisting of
