Abstract

A motor is provided with a chucking device enabling attachment and detachment of a disk-shaped storage medium. In the motor, a turntable forming a portion of the chucking device is disposed axially above a rotor holder. The turntable has a placement portion on which the storage medium is placed. An inner recess is formed on an outer surface of a shaft between a position at which the rotor holder is fitted and another position at which the turntable is fitted. An outer recess is formed to radially face the inner recess and is concave away from a center axis. Adhesive is placed in the inner recess and the outer recess.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method for manufacturing a motor including: a shaft coaxial with a center axis and having a recess formed on its outer surface over its entire circumferential length; a rotor magnet integrally rotatable with the shaft; a rotor holder having a fitting bore to which a portion of the shaft axially below the recess is fitted, wherein the rotor magnet includes a hollow, approximately cylindrical portion to which the rotor magnet is attached, a lid disposed between the fitting bore and the hollow, approximately cylindrical portion and having a substantially flat surface substantially perpendicular to the center axis, and a bent portion extending between the fitting bore and the lid and bent axially downward; and a chucking device operable to enable attachment and detachment of a disk-shaped storage medium having a center opening, including a turntable having a securing bore to which a portion of the shaft axially above the recess is fitted, the method comprising:
 a) press-fitting the shaft and the rotor holder to each other; b) applying adhesive in the recess of the shaft and a space defined by the bent portion of the rotor holder and the outer surface of the shaft after the press-fitting of the shaft and the rotor holder; and c) press-fitting the shaft and the turntable to each other after the application of the adhesive.

         2 . A method according to claim 1 , wherein
an auxiliary recess is provided on the outer surface of the shaft to face a portion of the turntable defining the securing bore in a radial direction substantially perpendicular to the center axis, and in the application of adhesive, the adhesive is applied in the auxiliary recess.

         3 . A method according to claim 1 , wherein
in the application of the adhesive, the adhesive is applied on a peripheral portion of the lid of the rotor holder, the peripheral portion connecting with the bent portion of the rotor holder.
