CGRP Compositions and Uses Thereof

Abstract

Compositions comprising at least one ingredient that stimulates, enhances, or increases CGRP expression, and a physiologically- or cosmetically-acceptable vehicle. The ingredient may be a compound, natural ingredient, such as a plant or fungus, derivatives, analogs, mimetics, synthetics and the like that stimulates CGRP expression. The CGRP plant includes plants, plant materials, plant extracts, synthetics, or combinations thereof that stimulate CGRP expression. The disclosure is also directed to methods of using the CGRP compositions for decreasing, reducing, or inhibiting fine lines or wrinkled skin.

1 ) A composition, comprising an ingredient that stimulates expression of CGRP;
 and a physiologically- or cosmetically-acceptable carrier.   
     
     
         2 ) The composition of  claim 1 , said ingredient is a compound, plant, or combinations thereof. 
     
     
         3 ) The composition of  claim 1 , said ingredient is: L-4-thiazolylalanine, tetramethylpyrazine, (2S,3S)-3-amino-2-hydroxy-4-phenylbutanoic acid, 3-Hydroxy-4,5-dimethylfuran-2(5H)-one, synthetics, derivatives, analogs, homologs thereof, black cohosh ( Cimicifuga racemosa ),  Capsicum amuum,  cedar,  Derris Scandens Benth, Erythrina flabelliformis, Withania somniferia,  fir needle ( Abies alba ),  Helichrysum gymnocephalum,  holly (Ilex), laurel clock vine ( Thunbergia laurifloria ),  Leptospermum lanigerum, Grifola frondosa, Melicope hayesii,  norway spruce,  Phyllarthron bojeranum,  pine needles,  Piper nigrum, Sophora tomentosa,  spruce needles,  Thuja,  or combinations thereof. 
     
     
         4 ) The composition of  claim 1 , said composition is a topical composition. 
     
     
         5 ) The composition of  claim 1 , said topical composition is a facial composition. 
     
     
         6 ) The composition of  claim 1 , said composition is an anti-wrinkle composition. 
     
     
         7 ) The composition of  claim 1 , said ingredient is in an amount effective to relax muscles. 
     
     
         8 ) The composition of  claim 1 , said ingredient is in an amount effective to inhibit muscle contraction. 
     
     
         9 ) The composition of  claim 2 , said extract is present in an amount from about 0.0001 weight % to about 10 weight % based on total weight of the composition. 
     
     
         10 ) The composition of  claim 9 , said composition is a lotion, a cream, an ointment, a gel, a serum, an emulsion, a spray, an aerosol, or a stick. 
     
     
         11 ) A composition comprising: a CGRP plant or a CGRP compound of  Capsicum amuum, Derris Scandens Benth, Erythrina flabelliformis, Helichrysum gymnocephalum, Thunbergia laurifloria, Leptospermum lanigerum, Melicope hayesii, Phyllarthron bojeranum, Piper nigrum, Sophora tomentosa,  L-4-thiazolylalanine, tetramethylpyrazine, (2S,3S)-3-amino-2-hydroxy-4-phenylbutanoic acid, or combinations thereof, and a physiologically- or cosmetically-acceptable carrier. 
     
     
         12 ) The composition of  claim 11 , said CGRP plant is an extract. 
     
     
         13 ) A method for treating wrinkles and/or fine lines, comprising:
 applying to skin having wrinkles and/or fine lines a topical composition comprising an effective amount of a CGRP composition comprising an ingredient that stimulates expression of CGRP; and a physiologically- or cosmetically-acceptable carrier, to reduce the severity of said wrinkles or fine lines.   
     
     
         14 ) The method of  claim 13 , said CGRP composition comprises a CGRP plant or a CGRP compound of  Capsicum amuum, Derris Scandens Benth, Erythrina flabelliformis, Helichrysum gymnocephalum, Thunbergia laurifloria, Leptospermum lanigerum, Melicope hayesii, Phyllarthron bojeranum, Piper nigrum, Sophora tomentosa,  L-4-thiazolylalanine, tetramethylpyrazine, (2S,3S)-3-amino-2-hydroxy-4-phenylbutanoic acid, or combinations thereof, and a physiologically- or cosmetically-acceptable carrier. 
     
     
         15 ) A method, comprising: administering an effective amount of a CGRP composition comprising an ingredient that stimulates expression of CGRP; and a physiologically- or cosmetically-acceptable carrier, to a subject in need of blocking muscle cell contraction. 
     
     
         16 ) The method of  claim 15 , said ingredient is present in an amount of about 0.0001 weight % to about 10 weight % based on total weight of the composition. 
     
     
         17 ) The method of  claim 15 , said subject in need has fine lined or wrinkled skin. 
     
     
         18 ) A method, comprising: administering an effective amount of a CGRP composition comprising an ingredient that stimulates expression of CGRP; and a 
     
     
         19 ) The method of  claim 18 , said ingredient is present in an amount of about 0.0001 weight % to about 10 weight % based on total weight of the composition. 
     
     
         20 ) The method of  claim 18 , said subject in need has fine lined or wrinkled skin. 
     
     
         21 ) A method, comprising: administering an effective amount of a CGRP composition comprising an ingredient that stimulates expression of CGRP; and a physiologically- or cosmetically-acceptable carrier, to a subject in need of reducing fine lines and wrinkles. 
     
     
         22 ) The method of  claim 21 , said ingredient is present in an amount of about 0.0001 weight % to about 10 weight % based on total weight of the composition. 
     
     
         23 ) The method of  claim 21 , said subject in need has fine lined or wrinkled skin.
