Pharmaceutical composition for prevention and/or treatment of bone loss

Abstract

A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and/or treating bone loss is disclosed. The pharmaceutical composition includes an effective amount of a licorice, black bean, Cnidi Fructus, and buckhorn.

1 . A method for preventing, ameliorating and/or treating the bone loss, comprising administering to a subject an effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition comprising imperatorin and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or excipient. 
     
     
         2 . The method as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the bone loss comprises osteoporosis or an osteoporotic fracture. 
     
     
         3 . The method as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition increases the alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity by at least 95.0% in a bone cell, increases the collagen synthesis by at least 102.0% in a bone cell, and/or increases the mineralization by at least 110.0% in a bone cell. 
     
     
         4 . The method as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition increases bone mineral density (BMD) by at least 12.2% and/or increases bone mineral content (BMC) by at least 28.9%. 
     
     
         5 . The method as claimed in  claim 1 , wherein the pharmaceutical composition is administrated orally or by injection.
