Container for water-based paint

Abstract

A container for water-based paint. The container includes a housing having an open top with a seal surface extending around the open top. The housing defines a chamber and includes a vent opening open to that chamber. A flexible bag is disposed in the chamber and the bag includes an open top with a seal formed around the open top. This seal abuts against the seal surface on the housing. A lid is attached to the housing so that the lid covers the open top of the housing and compresses the seal against the seal surface. A dispensing opening is formed in the lid.

1 . A container for water-based paint comprising:
 a housing having an open top with a seal surface, said housing defining a chamber and having a vent opening open to said chamber,   a flexible bag disposed in said chamber, said bag having an open top and a seal formed around said open top of said bag, said seal abutting against said seal surface,   a lid attached to said housing so that said lid covers said open top of said housing and compresses said seal against said seal surface,   said lid having a dispensing opening.   
     
     
         2 . The container as defined in  claim 1  wherein said container and said lid are made of plastic. 
     
     
         3 . The container as defined in  claim 1  wherein said container is rectangular in shape. 
     
     
         4 . The container as defined in  claim 1  wherein said container includes finger recesses along one side. 
     
     
         5 . The container as defined in  claim 1  and comprising a cap which closes said dispensing opening. 
     
     
         6 . The container as defined in  claim 1  wherein said bag is made of plastic. 
     
     
         7 . The container as defined in  claim 1  wherein said seal surface of said container includes an outwardly protruding flange formed around said open top of said container, said seal at least partially covering said flange.
