Systems and methods for applying tax legislation

Abstract

Systems and methods are provided for applying tax legislation. In one implementation, a system is provided that includes means for receiving a request for performing a tax calculation, the request including a first mark-up language document containing transaction data. The system also includes means for performing the tax calculation and means for generating a response, wherein the response includes the first mark-up language document and a result of the tax calculation.

         12 . An electronic apparatus, comprising:
 means for storing a predefined universal description discovery integration (UDDI) query;   means for submitting the predefined UDDI query to a UDDI registry;   means for selecting a replacement web service from a plurality of web services obtained in response to the predefined UDDI query from the UDDI registry; and means for forwarding a request received from a service consumer to the selected replacement web service if a default web service has failed.   
     
     
         13 . The electronic apparatus of  claim 12 , further comprising:
 a time out component, the time out component being adapted to trigger the sending of the UDDI query and the selection of a replacement web service if no response on the request of the service provider has been received from the default web service within a predefined amount of time.
