Abstract

An image forming system has an image forming apparatus which has a printing unit which can perform a printing process of data of a storage unit which can store data of a plurality of jobs and which has a conveying unit which can convey a sheet from the print unit to a sheet processing device which can perform sheet processing, including at least a gluing process, for sheets from the printing unit, the system comprising: a controller adapted to permit a predetermined process related to the gluing process when the job to be processed is a job which meets a predetermined condition, and to inhibit the predetermined process related to the gluing process when the job to be processed is not a job which meets the predetermined condition, thereby overcoming obstacles to realization of an image forming system capable of a gluing process.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A printing apparatus for performing printing processing on a sheet used for a body sheet of a case binding process, comprising:
a control unit configured to, when setting for performing the printing processing is performed by a user by using a user interface, perform control such that a sheet of which a size is bigger than a half size of a sheet used as a cover sheet of the case binding process is not selected by the user interface; and a printing unit configured to perform printing processing on a sheet having a size selected by the user interface.

2 . The printing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the printing unit does not perform printing processing in a case where the number of sheets used as the body sheet of the case binding process is not the allowable number of sheets in the case binding process.

3 . The printing apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the allowable number of sheets is greater than or equal to a first number of sheets and is smaller than or equal to a second number of sheets, the second number of sheets being greater than the first number of sheets.

4 . The printing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein in a case where setting for performing printing processing on the sheet used as the cover sheet of the case binding process is performed by the user interface, the printing unit performs printing processing on the sheet used as the cover sheet of the case binding process.

5 . The printing apparatus according to claim 4 , wherein even if the setting for performing printing processing on the sheet used as the cover sheet of the case binding process is not performed by the user interface, the control unit performs control such that setting for specifying a size of the sheet used as the cover sheet of the case binding process is performed by the user interface.

6 . The printing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the control unit performs control to distinguishably display, on the user interface, a candidate of the sheet used as the cover sheet of the case binding process and a candidate of the sheet used as the body sheet of the case binding process.

7 . The printing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the control unit performs control to display, on the user interface, a sheet size which cannot be used as the cover sheet of the case binding process such that the user can identify the sheet size.

8 . The printing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the control unit performs control to display, on the user interface, a sheet size which cannot be used as the body sheet of the case binding process such that the user can identify the sheet size.

9 . The printing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the control unit performs control to display a display key for selecting a sheet of which a size is bigger than a half size of the sheet used as the cover sheet of the case binding process in a manner such that the user cannot select the display key.

10 . The printing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the user interface is a user interface of the printing apparatus.

11 . The printing apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the user interface is a user interface of an external apparatus capable of communicating with the printing apparatus.

12 . The printing apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a reading unit configured to read a document and generate image data,
wherein the printing unit performs printing processing based on the image data.

13 . The printing apparatus according to claim 1 , further comprising a receiving unit configured to receive a print job from an external apparatus,
wherein the printing unit performs printing processing based on the print job.

14 . A method for performing printing processing on a sheet used for a body sheet of a case binding process, the method comprising:
when setting for performing the printing processing is performed by a user by using a user interface, performing control such that a sheet of which a size is bigger than a half size of a sheet used as a cover sheet of the case binding process is not selected by the user interface; and performing printing processing on a sheet having a size selected by the user interface.

15 . A computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to execute a method for performing printing processing on a sheet used for a body sheet of a case binding process, the method comprising:
when setting for performing the printing processing is performed by a user by using a user interface, performing control such that a sheet of which a size is bigger than a half size of a sheet used as a cover sheet of the case binding process is not selected by the user interface; and performing printing processing on a sheet having a size selected by the user interface.
