Abstract

Disclosed herein is an antiviral agent against animal viruses. The antiviral agent contains a protein or a nucleic acid sequence encoding the protein, as an active ingredient, the protein having binding ability and degrading ability to foreign nucleic acid chains invaded in an animal cell and that has no cytotoxicity to the animal cell itself. Disclosed herein is further an antiviral animal cell containing the protein according to the present invention, or the nucleic acid sequence encoding the protein. The antiviral agent and antiviral animal cell exhibit advantageous effects in that they selectively degrade foreign nucleic acid chains invaded in an animal cell and have no cytotoxicity to the animal cell, thus causing no death of the animal cell.

1 . An antiviral agent against animal viruses, the antiviral agent containing, as an active ingredient, a protein that has binding and degrading abilities to foreign nucleic acid chains invaded in an animal cell and has no cytotoxicity to the animal cell itself.

An antiviral agent against animal viruses, the antiviral agent containing, as an active ingredient, a nucleic acid sequence encoding a protein that has binding and degrading abilities selective for foreign nucleic acid chains invaded in an animal cell and has no cytotoxicity to the animal cell itself. 
     
     
         3 . The antiviral agent against animal viruses according to  claim 2 , wherein the nucleic acid sequence is a DNA sequence. 
     
     
         4 . The antiviral agent against animal viruses according to  claim 3 , wherein the DNA sequence is a nucleic acid sequence introduced into a vector capable of expressing genes in animal cells. 
     
     
         5 . The antiviral agent against animal viruses according to  claim 1 , wherein the protein is obtained from an autoimmune disease-induced animal. 
     
     
         6 . The antiviral agent against animal viruses according to  claim 5 , wherein the autoimmune disease is induced by malfunction of an Ipr gene. 
     
     
         7 . The antiviral agent against animal viruses according to  claim 5 , wherein the autoimmune disease-induced animal is a mouse. 
     
     
         8 . The antiviral agent against animal viruses according to  claim 1 , wherein the binding and degrading abilities to foreign nucleic acid chains are binding and degrading abilities to RNA chains, or binding and degrading abilities to DNA chains. 
     
     
         9 . The antiviral agent against animal viruses according to  claim 1 , wherein the binding and degrading abilities to foreign nucleic acid chains are binding and degrading abilities to both RNA and DNA chains. 
     
     
         10 . The antiviral agent against animal viruses according to  claim 1 , wherein the protein is immunoglobulin or a fragment thereof having binding and degrading abilities to foreign nucleic acid chains. 
     
     
         11 . The antiviral agent against animal viruses according to  claim 10 , wherein the immunoglobulin is immunoglobulin G (IgG). 
     
     
         12 . The antiviral agent against animal viruses according to  claim 10 , wherein the immunoglobulin fragment comprises one selected from the group consisting of VH, VL, Fv and scFv, or any combination thereof. 
     
     
         13 . The antiviral agent against animal viruses according to  claim 11 , wherein the IgG is 3D8. 
     
     
         14 . The antiviral agent against animal viruses according to  claim 12 , wherein the scFv has a sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO 6. 
     
     
         15 . The antiviral agent against animal viruses according to  claim 12 , wherein the VH has a sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO 2. 
     
     
         16 . The antiviral agent against animal viruses according to  claim 12 , wherein the VL has a sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO 4. 
     
     
         17 . The antiviral agent against animal viruses according to  claim 1 , wherein the virus invaded in an animal cell is RNA virus. 
     
     
         18 . The antiviral agent against animal viruses according to  claim 17 , wherein the RNA virus is acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) virus or severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) virus. 
     
     
         19 . An antiviral animal cell containing, as an active ingredient, a protein that has binding and degrading abilities to foreign nucleic acid chains invaded in an animal cell and has no cytotoxicity to the animal cell itself. 
     
     
         20 . An antiviral animal cell containing, as an active ingredient, a nucleic acid sequence encoding a protein that has binding and degrading abilities to foreign nucleic acid chains invaded in an animal cell and has no cytotoxicity to the animal cell itself. 
     
     
         21 . The antiviral animal cell according to  claim 20 , wherein the nucleic acid sequence is a DNA sequence.
