Abstract
A portable cradle for carrying a PAP device includes a base and a handle that is provided on the base. The base is structured to receive the PAP device and attachments to the PAP device. The base is oriented in a substantially horizontal position when the handle is lifted. A trolley may be provided to easily wheel the PAP device and store multiple accessories. Detachable battery packs may also be provided for attachment to a cradle.

25 . A portable breathing apparatus assembly, comprising:
a PAP device; and a cradle structured to receive a PAP device, wherein the cradle comprises a handle, wherein the PAP device is oriented in a substantially horizontal position when the handle is lifted.
26 . The portable breathing apparatus assembly of claim 25 , further comprising an oxygen blender connected to the PAP device.
27 . The portable breathing apparatus assembly of claim 26 , wherein the oxygen blender is physically and pneumatically connected to the PAP device and electrically connected to the cradle.
28 . The portable breathing apparatus assembly according to claim 25 , further comprising a battery module.
29 . A method for providing a portable breathing apparatus that includes a PAP device and a battery module, comprising:
providing a cradle to the battery module by connecting a first at least one engageable member of the cradle with at least one engageable member of the battery module; and providing the PAP device to the cradle by connecting at least one engageable member of the PAP device with a second at least one engageable member of the cradle.
30 . The method of claim 29 , further comprising attaching communication cords disposed within the cradle to the PAP device.
31 . An air delivery system, comprising:
a controllable PAP device operable to generate a supply of pressurized breathable gas to be provided to a patient for treatment, the PAP device adapted to be operable in a plurality of delivery modes; a controller configured to operate the PAP device in a selected one of the plurality of delivery modes; and a display screen configured to display output received from one or more patient monitoring sensors applied to the patient.
32 . The air delivery system according to claim 31 , wherein the display screen is configured to display breathing parameters associated with the selected delivery mode.
33 . The air delivery system according to claim 32 , wherein the display screen is configured to display graphs of at least one of the pressure, flow and volume of applied gas.
34 . The air delivery system according to claim 31 , wherein the display screen is configured to display output received from one or more sensors monitoring the patient's pulse oximetry, CO2 level, blood pressure, temperature, and/or ECG transducers.
35 . The air delivery system according to claim 31 , wherein the display screen further comprises an arm attached to the display screen, wherein the arm is provided with an electrical and communications connector.
36 . The air delivery system of claim 35 , further comprising a remote adapter configured for connection to the electrical and communications connector of the arm.
37 . The air delivery system of claim 36 , wherein the remote adapter further comprises a cord configured to connect to the PAP device.
38 . The air delivery system of claim 37 , wherein the adapter further comprises rubber feet deployed on a bottom surface thereof.
39 . The air delivery system of claim 37 , wherein the adapter is adapted to be mounted.
40 . The air delivery system according to claim 31 , wherein the controller is initially configured to provide intensive monitoring and care, and the controller is reconfigured to provide reduced functionality for patient home use.
41 . A trolley, comprising:
a wheel base; a support pole provided to the wheel base; a handle provided to a free end of the support pole; and one or more storage shelves or bins provided along the support pole.
42 . The trolley according to claim 41 , wherein the wheel base includes five wheels.
43 . The trolley according to claim 41 , wherein the wheel base includes a recessed storage area.
44 . The trolley according to claim 41 , wherein the wheel base includes one or more recessed areas for storing oxygen cylinders.
45 . The trolley according to claim 41 , wherein the handle is pivotally mounted to the support pole.
46 . The trolley according to claim 41 , wherein the handle includes an elongated hand opening.
47 . The trolley according to claim 41 , wherein each storage shelve or bin includes an attachment portion that is removably attachable to the support pole.
48 . The trolley according to claim 41 , wherein at least one of the storage shelves or bins is structured to support a PAP device.
49 . A method for providing NIPPY therapy to a patient, comprising:
introducing the patient to a NIPPY device having an assigned configuration at a first location; relocating the patient from the first location to a second location; transferring said NIPPY device having the assigned configuration along with the patient to the second location; and applying NIPPY therapy to the patient with said NIPPY device while relocating the patient from the first location to the second location.
50 . The method according to claim 49 , wherein relocating includes relocating the patient from a hospital or sleep clinic setting to the patient's home setting.
51 . The method according to claim 49 , wherein transferring the treatment device includes reconfiguring the treatment device to a requisite level of functionality at the second location.
52 . The method according to claim 49 , wherein transferring the treatment device includes transferring the assigned configuration of the treatment device to a substitute treatment device.
53 . A method for optimizing management of NIPPY devices, comprising:
assigning a NIPPY device to a patient in a hospital or sleep clinic setting; and providing said NIPPY device to the patient for use in a home setting.
54 . The method according to claim 53 , further comprising stocking a suitable number of NIPPV devices so that each patient can leave the first location with his/her assigned NIPPY device.
