Iterative multi-stage detection technique for a diversity receiver having multiple antenna elements
Abstract
A method for processing signals includes generating at a receiver, a plurality of scrambled sets of channel signals based on a plurality of spread replicas of a received signal. The plurality of spread replicas may be spread using a corresponding plurality of orthogonal sequences. At least a portion of the generated plurality of scrambled sets may be multiplexed onto a corresponding plurality of multiplexed channel signals on a receiver chain of the receiver. The plurality of spread replicas of the received signal may be combined, and the combined plurality of spread replicas may be scrambled. At least one scrambling sequence may be overlayed on the combined plurality of spread replicas of the received signal. The generated plurality of scrambled sets of channel signals may be orthogonally multiplexed onto a corresponding plurality of multiplexed channels on the receiver chain.

32 . A method for processing signals, the method comprising:
generating at a receiver, a plurality of scrambled sets of channel signals based on a plurality of spread replicas of a received signal, wherein said plurality of spread replicas are spread using a corresponding plurality of orthogonal sequences; and multiplexing at least a portion of said generated plurality of scrambled sets onto a corresponding plurality of multiplexed channel signals on a receiver chain of said receiver.
33 . The method according to claim 32 , comprising combining said plurality of spread replicas of said received signal.
34 . The method according to claim 33 , comprising scrambling said combined plurality of spread replicas of said received signal.
35 . The method according to claim 33 , comprising overlaying at least one scrambling sequence on said combined plurality of spread replicas of said received signal.
36 . The method according to claim 32 , comprising orthogonally multiplexing said generated plurality of scrambled sets of channel signals onto a corresponding plurality of multiplexed channels on said receiver chain.
37 . The method according to claim 32 , comprising downconverting said receiver chain multiplexed channel signals to corresponding baseband multiplexed channel signals.
38 . The method according to claim 37 , comprising generating a plurality of separate channel signals from said downconverted baseband multiplexed channel signals.
39 . The method according to claim 32 , comprising receiving said replicas of said received signal via a corresponding plurality of physical antenna elements.
40 . The method according to claim 39 , comprising generating a plurality signal response values for said corresponding plurality of physical antenna elements as a function of said replicas of said received signals.
41 . The method according to claim 40 , comprising calculating a plurality of physical weighing parameters as a function of said replicas of said received signal such that each of said plurality of physical weighing parameters is associated with a corresponding one of said plurality of physical antenna elements.
42 . The method according to claim 41 , comprising generating said plurality of signal response values for said corresponding plurality of physical antenna elements as a function of said plurality of physical weighing parameters.
43 . A system for processing signals, the system comprising:
at least one processor within a receiver, said at least one processor operative to generate at said receiver, a plurality of scrambled sets of channel signals based on a plurality of spread replicas of a received signal, wherein said plurality of spread replicas are spread using a corresponding plurality of orthogonal sequences; and said at least one processor is operative to multiplex at least a portion of said generated plurality of scrambled sets onto a corresponding plurality of multiplexed channel signals on a receiver chain of said receiver.
44 . The system according to claim 43 , wherein said at least one processor is operative to combine said plurality of spread replicas of said received signal.
45 . The system according to claim 44 , wherein said at least one processor is operative to scramble said combined plurality of spread replicas of said received signal.
46 . The system according to claim 44 , wherein said at least one processor is operative to overlay at least one scrambling sequence on said combined plurality of spread replicas of said received signal.
47 . The system according to claim 43 , wherein said at least one processor is operative to orthogonally multiplex said generated plurality of scrambled sets of channel signals onto a corresponding plurality of multiplexed channels on said receiver chain.
48 . The system according to claim 43 , wherein said at least one processor is operative to downconvert said receiver chain multiplexed channel signals to corresponding baseband multiplexed channel signals.
49 . The system according to claim 48 , wherein said at least one processor is operative to generate a plurality of separate channel signals from said downconverted baseband multiplexed channel signals.
50 . The system according to claim 43 , wherein said at least one processor is operative to receive said replicas of said received signal via a corresponding plurality of physical antenna elements.
51 . The system according to claim 50 , wherein said at least one processor is operative to generate a plurality signal response values for said corresponding plurality of physical antenna elements as a function of said replicas of said received signals.
52 . The system according to claim 51 , wherein said at least one processor is operative to calculate a plurality of physical weighing parameters as a function of said replicas of said received signal such that each of said plurality of physical weighing parameters is associated with a corresponding one of said plurality of physical antenna elements.
53 . The system according to claim 52 , wherein said at least one processor is operative to generate said plurality of signal response values for said corresponding plurality of physical antenna elements as a function of said plurality of physical weighing parameters.
54 . A system for processing signals, the system comprising:
one or more circuits within a receiver, said one or more circuits operative to generate at said receiver, a plurality of scrambled sets of channel signals based on a plurality of spread replicas of a received signal, wherein said plurality of spread replicas are spread using a corresponding plurality of orthogonal sequences; and said one or more circuits is operative to multiplex at least a portion of said generated plurality of scrambled sets onto a corresponding plurality of multiplexed channel signals on a receiver chain of said receiver.
55 . The system according to claim 54 , wherein said one or more circuits is operative to combine said plurality of spread replicas of said received signal.
56 . The system according to claim 55 , wherein said one or more circuits is operative to scramble said combined plurality of spread replicas of said received signal.
57 . The system according to claim 55 , wherein said one or more circuits is operative to overlay at least one scrambling sequence on said combined plurality of spread replicas of said received signal.
58 . The system according to claim 54 , wherein said one or more circuits is operative to orthogonally multiplex said generated plurality of scrambled sets of channel signals onto a corresponding plurality of multiplexed channels on said receiver chain.
59 . The system according to claim 54 , wherein said one or more circuits is operative to downconvert said receiver chain multiplexed channel signals to corresponding baseband multiplexed channel signals.
60 . The system according to claim 59 , wherein said one or more circuits is operative to generate a plurality of separate channel signals from said downconverted baseband multiplexed channel signals.
61 . The system according to claim 54 , wherein said one or more circuits is operative to receive said replicas of said received signal via a corresponding plurality of physical antenna elements.
62 . The system according to claim 61 , wherein said one or more circuits is operative to generate a plurality signal response values for said corresponding plurality of physical antenna elements as a function of said replicas of said received signals.

The system according to claim 62 , wherein said one or more circuits is operative to calculate a plurality of physical weighing parameters as a function of said replicas of said received signal such that each of said plurality of physical weighing parameters is associated with a corresponding one of said plurality of physical antenna elements.
