Modularized components assembled fluid dispensing nozzle
Abstract
Modularized components assembled dispensing nozzle, including operating components in the category of a poppet valve assembly, an automatic shutoff device, a hand operating lever for providing a turn on or shutoff of the dispensing of fluid through the nozzle, and a connected spout that delivers fluid to the fill pipe and fuel tank for a vehicle or fluid accepting container. Each of the identified components having been redesigned for assembly in modularized form, such as a modular cartridge for the poppet valve, a modular cartridge for the automatic shutoff device, a modularized operating hand lever, and a spout and its gland and retaining nut that provide for high speed interconnection with the nozzle body, during assembly, or servicing. Each of these modularized components can be installed, during assembly of the manufactured nozzle, or can be replaced, out in the field, by a service person, as a modularized component or cartridge assembly.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A modularized components assembled dispensing nozzle, including a nozzle housing body, said housing body having a flow path therethrough for the flow of fluid for dispensing to a vehicle or fluid accepting container, a housing body having connecting means at its backend, for attachment of the dispensing hose thereto, the front of the housing body having a spout connected therewith, for delivery of fluid through the spout and into the fill pipe of a vehicle or fluid accepting container, a poppet valve assembly for the dispensing nozzle, an automatic shutoff assembly for the dispensing nozzle, the poppet valve assembly providing for opening of the flow path for allowing fluid to flow through the nozzle for delivery, the automatic shutoff assembly providing for the automatic shutoff of the poppet valve when the fluid tank is filled with delivered fluid, and one of said poppet valve assembly and automatic shutoff assembly being modularized to provide for the entire assembly to be delivered into the nozzle body for installation, or to provide for its removal and replacement during servicing.
2 . The modularized components assembled dispensing nozzle of claim 1 , wherein said poppet valve assembly is entirely modularized, leaving a reduced tapering configuration in its installation within the nozzle housing body during assembly or servicing.
3 . The modularized components assembled dispensing nozzle of claim 1 wherein said automatic shutoff assembly is entirely modularized, having reduced tapering configuration, to provide for its installation as a modular unit into the nozzle during its assembly or servicing.
4 . The modularized components assembled dispensing nozzle of claim 2 wherein said poppet valve assembly includes a poppet venturi case, a poppet seal holder, a poppet seal, a poppet skirt, a check valve, a stem pad, poppet skirt, poppet stem and a poppet venturi case, all of said components integrated together and having their o-rings applied for sealing purposes into a modularized component before the poppet valve assembly is applied into the nozzle housing body, or before it is applied into the housing nozzle body as a replacement unit during servicing of the dispensing nozzle.
5 . The modularized components assembled dispensing nozzle of claim 3 , wherein said automatic shutoff assembly is formed of a plunger, a latch pin assembly, a diaphragm, a stem, and a backing plate, all integrally assembled together into a modular unit prior to their installation within the automatic shutoff cavity of the nozzle housing body, or before their application into the nozzle housing body as a replacement unit during servicing.
6 . The modularized components assembled dispensing nozzle of claim 1 , wherein hand actuated lever assembly includes a hand lever, a clip latch, a spring clip, and a anti-rattle spring, with its attached lever guard all assembled together into a modular component prior to its installation onto the nozzle housing body before its installation into the nozzle assembly, or before its application to the nozzle body as a replacement during servicing.
7 . The modularized components assembled dispensing nozzle of claim 1 and wherein poppet cap includes a series of segmented threads, said threads being arranged diametrically spaced from each other upon said downwardly extending sleeve of the cap, the poppet valve cavity of the nozzle housing body having corresponding threads placed diametrically from each other and arranged offset from the cap threads, whereby upon application of the poppet cap into the housing poppet cavity a quarter turn of said cap provides for a locking of the poppet valve assembly within the nozzle housing body during installation.
8 . The modularized components assembled dispensing nozzle of claim 7 , wherein said poppet cap having means for accommodating a tool to provide for its installation or removal.
9 . The modularized components assembled dispensing nozzle of claim 8 , wherein said means on the poppet cap for cooperating with a tool comprises a socket integrally structured into said poppet cap.
10 . The modularized components assembled dispensing nozzle of claim 1 , wherein said retaining nut of the spout includes a series of internal segments of threads for securement of the nozzle to the front of the nozzle housing body, said segmented threads being arranged diametrically within the retaining nut, said front of the housing body having segmented threads diametrically arranged upon the outer surface of the housing body, whereby upon the fastening of the spout, its gland, and the retaining nut to the housing body, the retaining nut threads locate immediately the housing body threads, and within approximately a quarter turn provides for rigid fastening of the fuel dispensing spout to the nozzle housing body during instillation.
11 . The modularized components assembled dispensing nozzle of claim 10 , wherein said retaining nut includes a series of lands for accommodating the application of a tool to provide for the fastening or removal of the retaining nut from the nozzle housing body during installation or removal of the fuel dispensing spout.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
