Display apparatus and method of manufacturing the same
Abstract
In a display apparatus and a method of manufacturing the display apparatus, a gate line, a data line, and a plurality of layers are formed on an array substrate on which a pixel area, a pad area, and a peripheral area are defined. During the forming processes of the gate line, the data line, and the layers, the gate line and the data line are partially exposed in the peripheral area, or contact portions formed on the gate line and the data line in the peripheral area are exposed. Thus, the gate line and the data line may be tested using the contact portions as electrical terminals during the manufacturing process of the display apparatus.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A display apparatus comprising:
a first substrate including a pixel area, a peripheral area bordering the pixel area, the peripheral area including a first peripheral area and a second peripheral area, a first pad area, and a second pad area, the pixel area being disposed between the first peripheral area and the first pad area and between the second peripheral area and the second pad area; a second substrate facing the first substrate; a gate line formed on the first substrate, the gate line extending from the first peripheral area to the first pad area, the gate line including a gate pad formed in the first pad area; a data line formed on the first substrate, the data line extending from the second peripheral area to the second pad area, the data line including a data pad formed in the second pad area; a pixel electrode formed in the pixel area; a common electrode formed on the second substrate; and a first test pad formed on the gate line in the first peripheral area, the first test pad including a first contact portion positioned above the gate line and electrically connected to the gate line.
2 . The display apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first test pad further comprises a second contact portion that is positioned above the first contact portion and electrically connected to the first contact portion.
3 . The display apparatus of claim 2 , wherein the first contact portion comprises a same material as the data line, and the second contact portion comprises a same material as the pixel electrode.
4 . The display apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the gate pad comprises:
a third contact portion positioned above the gate line and electrically connected to the gate line, the third contact portion including a same material as the data line; and a fourth contact portion positioned above the third contact portion and electrically connected to the third contact portion, the fourth contact portion including a same material as the pixel electrode.
5 . The display apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising a second test pad formed on the data line in the second peripheral area, the second test pad including a fifth contact portion positioned above the data line and electrically connected to the data line.
6 . The display apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the fifth contact portion comprises a same material as the pixel electrode.
7 . The display apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the data pad comprises a sixth contact portion positioned above the data line and electrically connected to the data line, and the sixth contact portion comprises a same material as the pixel electrode.
8 . The display apparatus of claim 1 , further comprising:
a first insulating layer formed on the gate line; and a second insulating layer formed on the data line.
9 . The display apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the first insulating layer is partially removed to form a contact hole therethrough in the first peripheral area, and the first contact portion is electrically connected to the gate line through the contact hole.
10 . The display apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the first insulating layer is entirely removed from the first peripheral area to electrically connect the first contact portion to the gate line.
11 . The display apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the first substrate comprises a plastic material.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
