Abstract
A device for preventing electrical shock from a device with electrical interfaces. A shutter or other barrier associated with the device that physically prevents access or contact to one of the electrical interfaces while another electrical interface is in use.

32 . A glucose monitoring system, comprising:
a glucose monitoring device, comprising:
a housing; and
an interface formed within an opening in the housing, the interface comprising:
a test strip port; and
a computer or power connector port; and
a cable mateable with the interface, the cable comprising:
a connector configured to connect with the computer or power connector port; and
a barrier portion coupled to the connector and positioned to block access to the test strip port when the connector is connected with the computer or power connector port.
33 . The glucose monitoring system of claim 32 , wherein the computer or power connector port is a universal serial bus (USB) port, and wherein the connector is a USB connector.
34 . The glucose monitoring system of claim 33 , comprising:
a power source, wherein the cable connects the power source and the USB port to provide power to the glucose monitoring device.
35 . The glucose monitoring system of claim 32 , wherein a form factor of the barrier corresponds to a form factor of the glucose monitoring device.
36 . The glucose monitoring system of claim 32 , wherein the cable comprises a shroud, and wherein the shroud comprises the barrier.
37 . The glucose monitoring system of claim 32 , wherein the interface is on a corner of the glucose monitoring device.
38 . The glucose monitoring system of claim 32 , wherein the cable comprises a plug extending from the barrier portion, the plug configured to insert within the test port when the connector is connected with the computer or power connector port.
39 . The glucose monitoring system of claim 38 , wherein the plug is non-conductive.
40 . The glucose monitoring system of claim 39 , wherein the computer or power connector port is a universal serial bus (USB) port, and wherein the connector is a USB connector.
41 . The glucose monitoring system of claim 32 , comprising:
a power source, wherein the cable connects the power source and the computer or power connector port to provide power to the glucose monitoring device.
42 . The glucose monitoring system of claim 41 , wherein the power source recharges a battery in the glucose monitoring device.
43 . The glucose monitoring system of claim 42 , wherein the power source is a computer.
44 . The glucose monitoring system of claim 32 , wherein the barrier completely encompasses an end of the glucose monitoring device.
45 .
