Method for managing information

Abstract

A method for managing the exchange of information is provided, wherein the method includes receiving at least one information location identifier, wherein the at least one information location identifier may be associated with at least one information portal and associating with at least one network browser. The method further includes generating an information location identifier template responsive to the at least one information portal and communicating with the at least one information portal to identify resultant information.

         21 . A method for directing at least one information portal to generate search results using a computer executing a software application distinct from the at least one information portal, the at least one information portal, when accessed by a user, displaying at least one data entry field allowing for entry of a term and, responsive to entry of the term, displaying search results to the user, the method comprising:
 displaying a user interface to the user including at least one data entry field corresponding to the at least one data entry field of the at least one information portal;   receiving a query term entered into the displayed at least one data entry field;   communicating retrieval information to the at least one information portal in a data format effective to prompt the at least one information portal to generate search results associated with the received query term; and   displaying the search results generated by the at least one information portal.   
     
     
         22 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the data format includes a query string including the at least one query term. 
     
     
         23 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the computer communicates the retrieval information to the at least one information portal via a network. 
     
     
         24 . The method of  claim 23 , wherein displaying the search results includes opening a network browser to display the search results. 
     
     
         25 . The method of  claim 21 , wherein the at least information portal, when accessed by the user, displays a plurality of data entry fields;
 wherein displaying a user interface to the user includes displaying the plurality of data entry fields corresponding to the plurality of data entry fields of the at least one information portal; and   wherein receiving a query term includes receiving a plurality of query terms entered into the displayed plurality of data entry fields.
