Abstract

A low cost toy top having a simple structure and capable of changing its operating characteristics upon collision with an opponent toy top. The toy top which is spun on a playing board to play a match with an opponent toy top by being collided with the latter includes a main body including collisional portions adapted to come into contact with the opponent toy top, wherein at least some of the collisional portions are provided with a friction member for converting a rotational force of the opponent toy top into a rotational force of the toy top at the time of collision.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A toy top which is spun on a playing board to play a match with an opponent toy top by being collided with the latter, comprising:
a main body including collisional portions adapted to come into contact with the opponent toy top, wherein at least some of the collisional portions are each provided with a friction member for converting a rotational force of the opponent toy top into a rotational force of the toy top at the time of collision.

2 . The toy top according to claim 1 , wherein the friction member is formed of a resilient rubber material.

3 . The toy top according to claim 1 , wherein the main body comprises an upper layer section having a function of attacking the opponent toy top, a middle layer section determining a height of the toy top, a lower layer section having a shaft portion and fitted on the middle layer section, and a coupling member coupling together the upper layer section and the middle layer section, and wherein the collisional portions are disposed in the upper layer section so that the friction members protrude outward therefrom.

4 . The toy top according to claim 2 , wherein the main body comprises an upper layer section having a function of attacking the opponent toy top, a middle layer section determining a height of the toy top, a lower layer section having a shaft portion and fitted on the middle layer section, and a coupling member coupling together the upper layer section and the middle layer section, and wherein the collisional portions are disposed in the upper layer section so that the friction members protrude outward therefrom.

5 . The toy top according to claim 3 , wherein the upper layer section includes a first attacking member and a second attacking member, the first attacking member has an outer diameter smaller than that of the second attacking member and is fitted on the second attacking member from above, the first attacking member has attacking portions formed on an outer periphery of an upper surface thereof so as to attack the opponent toy top from below, and the friction members are attached to the outer periphery of the upper surface of the first attacking member to protrude upward and laterally outward.

6 . The toy top according to claim 4 , wherein the upper layer section includes a first attacking member and a second attacking member, the first attacking member has an outer diameter smaller than that of the second attacking member and is fitted on the second attacking member from above, the first attacking member has attacking portions formed on an outer periphery of an upper surface thereof so as to attack the opponent toy top from below, and the friction members are attached to the outer periphery of the upper surface of the first attacking member to protrude upward and laterally outward.

7 . A toy top to collide with an opponent toy top, comprising:
a main body including at least one high friction member on an upper surface thereof for converting a rotational force of the opponent toy top into a rotational force of the toy top at the time of collision.

8 . The toy top according to claim 7 , wherein the at least one friction member is formed of rubber.

9 . The toy top according to claim 7 , wherein the main body comprises an upper layer section for attacking the opponent toy top, and wherein the at least one friction member is disposed on the upper layer section so that the at least one friction member protrudes outward from the upper layer section.

10 . The toy top according to claim 9 , wherein the upper layer section includes a first attacking member and a second attacking member, the first attacking member has an outer diameter smaller than that of the second attacking member and is fitted on the second attacking member from above, and the at least one friction member is attached to the outer periphery of the upper surface of the first attacking member to protrude upward and laterally outward.

         11 . A toy top, comprising:
a main body made of a material with a first coefficient of friction, and including at least one friction member on an outer periphery thereof, the at least one friction member having a second significantly higher coefficient of friction for converting a rotational force of a colliding opponent toy top into a rotational force of the toy top.

12 . The toy top according to claim 11 , wherein the at least one friction member is rubber.

13 . The toy top according to claim 11 , wherein the main body comprises an upper layer section for attacking the opponent toy top, and wherein the at least one friction member is disposed on the upper layer section so that the member protrudes outward from the upper layer section.

14 . The toy top according to claim 13 , wherein the upper layer section includes a first attacking member and a second attacking member, the first attacking member has an outer diameter smaller than that of the second attacking member and is fitted on the second attacking member and wherein the at least one friction member is attached to an outer periphery of the upper surface of the first attacking member to protrude upward and laterally outward.
