Abstract

The present disclosure relates to milk-based nutritional compositions for pediatric subjects, such as children's nutritional products and infant formulas, comprising a protein source, a fat source, a carbohydrate source, and a source of β-1,3-glucan.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A nutritional composition for a pediatric subject, comprising a milk-based matrix comprising:
a fat source; a carbohydrate source; a protein source; and a β-glucan source.

2 . The nutritional composition according to claim 1 , wherein β-glucan source comprises β-1,3-glucan.

3 . The nutritional composition according to claim 1 , wherein the β-glucan source comprises β-1,3;1,6-glucan.

4 . The nutritional composition according to claim 1 , wherein the β-glucan source comprises whole-glucan particle β-glucan.

5 . The nutritional composition according to claim 1 , wherein the composition is nutritionally complete.

6 . The nutritional composition according to claim 1 , wherein the composition is in a powdered form.

7 . The nutritional composition according to claim 1 , further comprising at least one probiotic.

8 . The nutritional composition according to claim 1 , further comprising at least one additional prebiotic.

9 . The nutritional composition according to claim 1 , further comprising the administration of at least one long chain polyunsaturated fatty acid.

10 . The nutritional composition according to claim 9 , wherein the long chain polyunsaturated fatty acid is selected from the group consisting of docosahexaenoic acid, arachidonic acid, or combinations thereof.

11 . A method for enhancing immune system function in a pediatric subject comprising administering to the pediatric subject a milk-based formula comprising β-1,3-glucan.

         12 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein the β-glucan is β-1,3;1,6-glucan.

         13 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein the β-glucan is whole-glucan particle β-glucan.

14 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein the milk-based formula further comprises a probiotic.

15 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein the milk-based formula further comprises at least one additional prebiotic.

16 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein the milk-based formula further comprises at least one long chain polyunsaturated fatty acid.

17 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein the milk-based formula comprises an infant formula.

18 . The method according to claim 11 , wherein the milk-based formula comprises a children's nutritional product.

         19 . A milk-based nutritional composition for a pediatric subject, comprising:
a fat source; a carbohydrate source; a protein source; a β-1,3-glucan source; at least one probiotic; at least one prebiotic; and at least one long chain polyunsaturated fatty acid.

         20 . The milk-based nutritional composition of claim 19 , wherein the β-1,3-glucan source comprises β-1,3;1,6-glucan.
