Abstract
A table assembly comprising first and second spaced apart leg members, the first and second leg members forming first and second facing surfaces, an elongated channel member supported at opposite ends by the leg members, the channel member including front and rear sides and forming a wire management channel along the length of the channel member, an elongated first trough member supported and located adjacent the front side of the channel member and between the facing surfaces of the leg members, the trough member forming an upwardly opening cavity along at least a portion of the length of the trough member and a first table top member supported between the first and second leg members and located adjacent a side of the first trough member opposite the channel member.

first and second spaced apart leg members, the first and second leg members forming first and second facing surfaces; an elongated channel member supported at opposite ends by the leg members, the channel member including front and rear sides and forming a wire management channel along the length of the channel member; an elongated first trough member supported and located adjacent the front side of the channel member and between the facing surfaces of the leg members, the trough member forming an upwardly opening cavity along at least a portion of the length of the trough member; and a first table top member supported between the first and second leg members and located adjacent a side of the first trough member opposite the channel member.
2 . The assembly of claim 1 wherein the elongated first trough member is supported at opposite ends by the leg members.
3 . The assembly of claim 1 wherein the table top member is supported along opposite lateral edges by the leg members.
4 . The assembly of claim 1 wherein the channel member forms an upwardly facing channel support surface along at least a portion of the length of the front side and at least a portion of the trough member contacts and is supported by the channel support surface.
5 . The assembly of claim 4 wherein the trough includes a trough body and a strengthening runner along a front edge, the strengthening runner forming a trough support surface and a portion of an undersurface of a rear edge of the first table top member contacting and supported by the trough support surface.
6 . The assembly of claim 1 wherein the trough member forms a trough support surface along at least a portion of the length of the trough member and at least a portion of the first table top member contacts and is supported by the trough support surface.
7 . The assembly of claim 1 further including first and second bracket support members that are mounted to the first and second leg members, respectively, each bracket support member forming a support surface, each of the first trough member and the first table top member contacting and supported by the support surfaces.
8 . The assembly of claim 1 further including:
an elongated second trough member supported between the facing surfaces of the leg members and located adjacent the rear side of the channel member, the second trough member forming an upwardly opening cavity along at least a portion of the length of the trough member; and
a second table top member supported between the leg members and located adjacent a side of the second trough member opposite the channel member.
9 . The assembly of claim 8 wherein a space between the facing surfaces of the leg members is a frame space and wherein the first and second table top members extend out of the frame space in opposite directions.
10 . The assembly of claim 8 wherein each of the first and second trough members is supported at opposite ends by the leg members and each of the first and second table top members is supported along opposite lateral edges by the leg members.
11 . The assembly of claim 8 further including first and second bracket support members that are mounted to the first and second leg members, respectively, the first and second bracket support members forming first and second support surfaces, each of the first trough member and the first table top member contacting and supported by each of the first and second support surfaces, the assembly further including third and fourth bracket support members that are mounted to the first and second leg members, respectively, the third and fourth bracket support members forming third and fourth support surfaces, each of the second trough member and the second table top member contacting and supported by each of the third and fourth support surfaces.
12 . The assembly of claim 1 wherein the trough member is formed of plastic.
13 . The assembly of claim 1 wherein the trough member is vacuum formed.
14 . The assembly of claim 1 further including a power receptacle mounted in the channel member.
15 . The assembly of claim 14 wherein the trough member forms an opening through which the power receptacle mounted in the channel member is accessible.
16 . The assembly of claim 1 wherein the trough member includes a bottom wall member that forms at least first and second different depth trough portions.
17 . The assembly of claim 1 wherein the trough member has a width dimension that is between three inches and twenty inches.
18 . The assembly of claim 1 wherein the channel member forms a top surface that is at substantially the same height as a top surface of the table top member.
19 . The assembly of claim 18 wherein each leg member forms a top surface and wherein the top surface of the leg member is at substantially the same height as the top surface of the table top member.
20 . The assembly of claim 1 further including at least one plate member supported for sliding movement along at least a portion of a length dimension of the trough member to block access to at least a portion of the trough member in a first position and to provide access to at least a portion of the trough member when in a second position.
21 . The assembly of claim 20 wherein the plate member forms a top surface that is at substantially the same height as a top surface of the table top member when the plate is supported by the trough member.
22 . A table assembly comprising:
first and second spaced apart leg members having first and second facing surfaces; first and second table top members, each table top member extending between and supported between the facing surfaces of the first and second leg members, where rear edges of the first and second table top members face each other and are spaced apart by a split top space; an elongated rigid rail member mounted at opposite ends to the first and second leg members within the split top space; and at least a first trough member supported between the facing surfaces of the leg members and forming a top opening along a length dimension, the first trough member mounted within the split top space between the rear edges of the first and second table top members with the top opening adjacent at least the rear edge of the first table top member and extending downward there from to form a storage space at a level below top surfaces of the table top members, at least a portion of the first trough member supported by the rail member.
23 . The assembly of claim 22 wherein each of the table top members is supported along opposite lateral edges by the leg members.
24 . The assembly of claim 22 wherein the trough members is supported at opposite ends by the first and second leg members.
25 . The assembly of claim 22 wherein the trough includes a trough body and a strengthening runner along a front edge, the strengthening runner forming a trough support surface and a portion of an undersurface of a rear edge of the first table top member contacting and supported by the trough support surface.
26 . The assembly of claim 25 wherein the rail member includes a rigid elongated channel member that forms a wire management channel along a length dimension.
27 . The assembly of claim 26 wherein the channel member forms first and second channel support surfaces along oppositely facing first and second edges and wherein a rear edge of the first trough member contacts and is supported by the first channel member support surface.
28 . The assembly of claim 27 further including a second trough member supported between the facing surfaces of the leg members and forming a top opening along a length dimension, the second trough member mounted within the split top space between the rear edge of the second table top member and the second support surface of the channel member with the top opening adjacent at least the rear edge of the second table top member, the second trough member extending downward from the top opening to form a storage space at a level below top surfaces of the table top members.
29 . The assembly of claim 26 wherein at least one power receptacle is mounted within the channel member.
30 . The assembly of claim 26 wherein the channel forming member is formed of bent sheet metal.
31 . The assembly of claim 22 wherein top surfaces of the first and second table top members are at the same height.
32 . The assembly of claim 31 wherein the rail member forms a top surface that is at the same height as the top surfaces of the table top members.
33 . The assembly of claim 31 further including at least a first plate member supported in the top opening of the first trough member for sliding movement along a length dimension of the trough member between at least first and second positions wherein the plate member blocks access to at least a portion of the trough when in the first position and allows access to the at least a portion of the trough in the second position.
34 . The assembly of claim 33 wherein a top surface of the plate member is at the same height as the first and second table top members.
35 . The assembly of claim 31 wherein each of the first and second leg members including a top surface and wherein the top surfaces of the table top members are at the same height as the top surfaces of the leg members.
36 . A table assembly comprising:
first and second spaced apart leg members having first and second substantially vertical side surface, respectively; first and second support members mounted to the first and second side surfaces and forming first and second support surfaces, respectively; an elongated rigid trough member having first and second ends and forming a top opening into a trough cavity that extends along a length dimension between the first and second ends; and a table top member having first and second ends and a rear edge; wherein the trough member and the table top member are supported by the first and second support surfaces with the trough member adjacent a rear edge of the table top member.
37 . The table assembly of claim 36 wherein each of the leg members forms a substantially horizontal slot and wherein each of the support members forms a support member lip that is receivable within one of the slots for mounting the support members to the leg members in a cantilevered fashion.
38 . The table assembly of claim 36 further including:
third and fourth support members mounted to the first and second side surfaces and forming third and fourth support surfaces, respectively;
a second elongated rigid trough member having first and second ends and forming a top opening into a second trough cavity that extends along a length dimension between the first and second ends; and
a second table top member having first and second ends and a rear edge;
wherein the second trough member and the second table top member are supported by the first and second support surfaces with the second trough member adjacent a rear edge of the second table top member.
39 . The assembly of claim 38 wherein each of the leg members forms a substantially horizontal slot and wherein each of the support members forms a support member lip, the first and third support member lips received in the slot formed by the first leg member and the second and fourth support member lips received in the slot formed by the second leg member.
40 . The assembly of claim 39 wherein the first and second leg members have forward and rearward portions and wherein the first and second support members extend forward and the third and fourth support members extend rearward from the slots.
41 . The assembly of claim 40 wherein each of the first and second leg member includes front and rear surfaces and each of the support members includes a distal end and wherein each of the distal ends of the first and second support members extends forward past the front surfaces and each of the distal ends if the third and fourth support members extends rearward past the rear surfaces.
42 . The assembly of claim 38 further including an elongated rigid channel member that forms a wire management channel along a length dimension, the channel member mounted to and between the leg members and located between the first and second trough members.
43 . The assembly of claim 42 wherein the channel forming member forms a top opening substantially along the channel member length dimension for passing wires into and out of the member channel.
44 .
